New Sport Owner needs Advice
We bought a new 16' Sport last week and need advice. Every time I turn the battery switch to off, and then on again the radio comes on near full volume. Radio is in a cabinet so first time it happened I thought maybe the dealer left it on. Next time it happened took time to figure out where it was coming from.
Anyone know how to override radio coming on automatically when power is switched on?

Have you checked the owners manual for a solution?

Yes that would be a nuisance but may I ask why you are turning the battery switch off to begin with? I had my trailer for 26 years and have not turned it off yet.
It would be easy to install a single pole switch in the power line to the radio to stop it from happening. Come to think of it I don't remember ever using the radio either.

When we took deliver of the Sport they had turned the battery switch ( under the table ) to the off position . I always keep the battery switch in the off position when the trailer is not in use. There is drain on the battery even when not in use, unless the switch is off. Am I missing something particular to Airstreams?
Thanks

The radios in the Sport models will turn on when power is first applied. If this is something you find annoying enough to do something about, the single line switch to keep the power off is about the only solution, other than replacing the radio.

It's not that annoying now that I know what's going on . And I'm not camped next to someone wondering where that loud music's coming from.
Thanks

The face is removable and there is a storage case for it. You could try leaving in off.

One caution: I have turned on the battery when the trailer was parked (not in use), had the radio go on without noticing it, and completely drained the batteries. So I find this more than an annoyance -- but I have managed to train myself to check and turn off the radio each time.
Overlander, can you give details on installing a switch?

These radios are designed that way to preserve the internal memory. If you don't want to wire in a radio master switch just leave a nearby light on to remind you to turn off the radio when you turn on the battery switch. A poor man's pilot light.
