New Airstream Owner

Hi everyone,

My name is Michael and I live in So Cal. My girlfriend and I travel with our two Rough Coat Collies Jack and Rose in our Jeep Liberty 4x4. We're picking up our new 2013 16' Sport next week and look forward to our first trip out to Yosemite in October.

I was a long time Casita owner and finally made the decision to move up to an Airstream.

I'm looking forward to viewing and responding to the posts on the forum.

Thanks,
Jack Dog in So Cal

Welcome and enjoy the new trailer. You'll hear a lot of grousing (me included) about some of the issues with Airstreams - but if you start a good check list for all of the little minor glitches you're likely to find and make it a point to keep your roof seams PROPERLY sealed - you'll like this trailer just fine. Of course moving from a Casita to a 16ft Airstream isn't really very drastic... It would have been loads more "interesting" if you'd gone to a 34 foot tri-axle. But the big rigs aren't really designed for the back country are they?

So enjoy and be safe out there.

Paula

Welcome to the world of Twinkies!!

I hope you enjoy the toy. I went vintage and have a 1968 Globetrotter. This Forum is great and so are the folks who are happy to help each other. I am also a Socal owner, Go Ducks! Remember to go slow. Get a good hitch and make a checklist to slow yourself down when coming and going. We will be in Three Rivers the week of 8/20. Maybe we will run into you.
Congrats!
Randy

I started with a Casita 13. Now on my 3rd airstream, a bambi sport 16. We tow ours with a Jeep GC. The Sport 16 is a nice trailer, hits the mark if you like smaller rigs and spend a lot of time doing stuff outside. This is not a good trailer for spending days and days inside watching television or cooking. It is just about perfect (for us) if you drive lots, hike, bike, explore, etc.
