If we stay at a campground that has full hookups, I can use a city water connection since it doesn't fill the tank, otherwise we'll use water from the jug. For those who've done some winter camping in their Bambi, will this work? Other issues I need to consider?
Thanks, Rye
Hey there OP Rye . . . wondering how the trip went? Any chance that you gave Mountain Charley's a tip of the hat for me?

Thanks Tim!
We met you and your wife a couple of years ago at the Grizzly RV park.
Here are pictures of the UltraHeat pads on the pipes. The ones on the valves are narrow and wrap around them. The water inlet freezes easily partly because it is up against the steel trailer frame. When unhooking the water hose (many nights), we let the excess water drain out. There is then not enough water present to damage the pipe when it freezes.

The wiring goes in behind the light switch, up through the floor, and then behind the cabinets to the switches and 12v fuse panel. The wire needs to be adequately heavy to carry the amperage for the heaters.

The switches shown are on the wall next to the stove.

Those odd protrusions out of the black and gray water pipes are the remains of the Micropulse sensors. We retrofitted those sensors and that system has now been replaced by a SeeLevel one.

One other piece of advice. If you use one of those blue plastic water filters for your city water hook-up and you do not use heating tape on your hose, bring the filter inside when the temp drops below freezing (at night). It doesn't take much for those to freeze and blow apart.

Sorry to stray of subject, how was grr retrofit? The micropulse is worthless on our ‘11 22FB, not sure it is even worth trying to recalibrate them. I don’t care about our black tank, it is the gray and fresh water.

Yep, the Micropulse system was essentially worthless. We have been very pleased with the SeeLevel one.

Each Airstream model has different situations for installing the SeeLevel sensors which attach to the outside of the tanks. In our trailer, freshwater was dead simple, the blackwater tank required removal of some cabinet pieces and contortionist manipulation, and the graywater tank involved removal of a riveted-on piece of the underbelly covering. I rewired for the sensors. Others have doubled up the telephone-type Micropulse wires. The search function should find you relevant threads.
