mattress replacement

Has anyone tried a new mattress from the airstream supply company? The mattress in our 2017 Sport 22 has a deep hole on my husband's side of the bed. He only weighs 180. A mattress should last longer than 3 years! Don't want to order the same thing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

We hated the Airstream mattress and ordered a replacement from foambymail.com
We ordered a 8”x60”x84”...their “LuxFoam” in firm...and we are happy but would order medium if we were to do it over again. It was $430 and arrived in a week. We cut open the shrink-wrap and let it expand to size. Surprisingly, it did not smell at all, and now 5 years later we still find it exceptionally comfortable.

I did use the airstream mattress as a “pattern” and using an electric carving knife trimmed the corners to fit the curves of the wall. Worked perfectly.

I suggest a 6” instead of 8” and then put a egg-crate topper on it and you’ll be in-Love with it.

Mattress Insider

We have been traveling full-time since July 2016 in our 2001 30’ Airstream trailer. 45,000+ miles, 315+ campgrounds and 50 states/provinces so far. Three and a half years ago we bought a custom sized perfectly-fitted RV mattress and we still love it!.

Thank you all for your replies. We are months away from resuming our travel adventures and the mattress decision could take that long. So much to consider and compare.

Last June, we bought a new mattress for our 2002 19' through Mattress Insider. Their factory knew exactly the size and shape needed for our Airstream, delivery was prompt, and the mattress is outstanding. We did buy one of their upper end mattresses.

The wife and I are hot sleepers so we just purchased this company's Latex Foam to put on top of the 1996 Rear Queen in the 3".

Then a set of Brooklinen sheets in the Classic Percale breathable 270 thread count weave.

Enjoy,

We bought the "Custom Luxury Gel Foam Mattress." Custom because it was made to the exact shape we needed.

We bought a 6 " memory foam from a site called Mawandpaw on ebay. It was very reasonably priced. Trimmed it with a electric knife. It is amazingly comfortable. The only issue is having someone sew the cover to fit after you trim it size.

IMO, a combination of multiple types of foam is best.
A firmer support layer of foam below a softer (like memory foam) upper layer is what I like.

We replaced our AS factory mattress with a Dynasty Mattress gel memory foam. It is RV queen size. Very happy and a big comfort improvement over factory in our 2015 International.
