Leaks and flooring
A long strange journey...finding leaking, ripping up the floor, cutting a piece of the subfloor, replacing subfloor piece and then putting in an LL Bean waterhog mat, cut to fit, over the subfloor. After experiencing hidden leaking and a rotting floor, I no longer want to have permanent flooring that hides and seals in water. I am not especially handy like many here, but I am learning.

I'm sorry to see you struggling with a relatively new trailer. What was the source of the leak?

Thanks. It could have been much worse. At least I think, optimistically thinking that under the fridge and under the bathroom are OK. The leak was caused by a common problem with pre-2020 models with these plastic fridge side vents which let the rian in in about 3 possible ways. There may have been some other leaking--a bit of bad caulking around the door, and a bathroom window gasket that came out and I was bit lazy/unconfident about replacing it. I don't have a place to take her for maintenance so I am realizing I really have to do this stuff myself.

Hi Farafield, half of the issue is the reflectix under the floor (at least was for me). Check this thread out which may give you some ideas. https://www.airforums.com/forums/f39...ml#post1262866

I wondered about that. The plastic vents seem to work fine on straight-sided conventional trailers, but not on curved Airstream walls.
I'm going to be working on the roof of mine again in the next week - time for a wash and complete wax before winter. I need to carefully examine the sealant when I'm up there.

It just makes no sense to me that if the floor gets wet, and it's going to, the cards are stacked against it's drying out, especially when these kinds of leaks are not detected until things have gone too far.

Yes, I am doing that too. Hope it all looks good!
