Our solution

We did buy the AS sheets for our 2014 22' Sport. The sheets are soft, but expensive and do not fit. Now we use a double-sized, cotton jersey bottom sheet from Target. The stretchy fabric works perfectly--rounded corners too--just tug and secure. For the top, we use a double-sized, light-weight down comforter with a double-sized duvet cover. No top sheet. Looks great, easy to make (but on a cold night, a little skimpy on the sides).

We do not have a 22, but this tip might help. On the 23FB, we have a full queen. After the first trip, we figured out that the every day make the bed routine was easier if we used a Cal King top sheet. It tucks in well along the back side of the mattress next to the window. That holds the bed together nicely until it's time to change the sheets. Pat

The easiest way to handle the sheet, mattress pad (heated or not), is to use men's suspenders. Separate the straps from the crossover. then after placing the sheet on the bed, lift up the mattress and fasten the straps length wise, width wise, and/or cross wise. this eliminates the edges always coming up and needing to be tucked back in. If you want a sleeping bag just put it on top. Probably sooner or later you will need a bed prop because the weight increase will over powers the bed's gas lift struts.

Have to say, after having a history with beds in goosenecks, corner beds in motorhomes, I love our twin bed setup! My husband loves his sleeping bag and I have my bed made up with the AS sheets, Pendleton summer blanket, and a down quilt with duvet cover for chilly nights! Easy to make!

No Sheets

I will say this, any sheets will work, but we are finding making our Airstream personal, different from in our home, is fun. Plain sheets in the house, something a little different in the trailer.

We have had an Airstream for 6 years now and love getting away in it. I plan more trips than we can take, but love just thinking about going.

We hope you have as much fun as we do.

Here's how I make the bed in the 22:

Pull the mattress back from th front of the coach 6inches or so. Lay a flat queen sheet down and get the exposed long side arranged evenly, overhanging in a straight line and even between foot and head of the bed.

Work your way back, flattening the sheet out as you go. Get the surface of the bed right. You can climb up on the bed, pushing the sheet out in front of you.

Tuck the back, bottom and top, and then finally the front. Repeat for top sheet and blankets.

Pulling the mattress forward at the start let's you tuck everything in more easily. Push it back to,the wall when done. I've gotten pretty good at this, it's really not that hard.

We use Pink flamingo sheets.
I see Vintage Trailer has cute RV sheets that are microfiber - good price too. I'm tempted, but they don't have flamingos on them....

I have a couple of the older Travasac. Same concept. Great for guests.
If I had to make a bed against a wall, I'd use it all the time.

The great thing about the custom-shaped and fitted AB Lifestyle sheets and mattress pads, is that you pick up the mattress, tip it on edge, and make the bed most of the way out in the open, or in the "hall."

You don't have to be ON the mattress fighting your own weight to get most of the work done.

The all-cotton composition is the final deal maker, compared to the other suggestions here, especially in the heat of summer.

Sorry that the OP can't get sheets from AB. They feel great and enable easy bed-making.

We bought our mattress pad from the Airstream store but use high quality, standard sheets on our bed. We have had no issues with the fit of the bottom sheet and just tuck in a bit more of the top sheet with being 5" shorter then a normal queen. No problem and can't believe I original felt I needed unique sheets before getting the Airstream.

I'm still amazed that people by a 100k trailer and tow the 8000 pound thing around and choose to sleep in sleeping bags. It's almost as nutty as not wanting to use the head or the shower.

Congratulations on the new Airstream and welcome. I'm interested in the bamboo sheets Airtandem mentioned. I think Amazon has them in stock

We couldn't believe the very expensive, custom fit sheets we ordered weren't big enough or had strong enough elastic to stay put. Waste of money. We have 2 sets of full size sheets that have stretch fabric on the ends which make it easier to use but still use the suspenders to keep the mattress pad and bottom fitted sheet in place. The bed is covered with a quilted bedspread.

We removed the blinds and installed roller shades on the side windows in the bedroom area so the mini blind hold down clips are not an obstacle to lifting the mattress. We currently are spending 5 nights a week in our 22FB so we get lots of practice making the bed. We make the bed with the top sheet and the bedspread visible side even with the platform and do not tuck it in. We tuck the excess bedding in along the wall and foot then crawl under the mattress and grab the excess and pull it tight under the mattress. The made up bed works similar to a single side access sleeping bag and is easier to make the next morning.
