I did it!!! She's mine!

I did it! My 2005 16' Bambi just arrived tonight! I'm so excited!! She's so cute and sweet. I'm brand new to this whole thing, but Vinnie @ Vinnie's Northbay Airstream Repair has been an awesome help and we had it delivered to his shop. He went through it and said I scored. It's super clean.
I'm taking her to Lake Tahoe this weekend for a maiden voyage. I'll go slowly. Any other tips?
I can't wait to meet you all on the road. Please say hi and give the newbie some tips!
Thanks!
Nira

I want to find or have made some new covers for the dinette cushions. I'd like just a basic beige. Any suggestions about where to get some stock or custom slip covers?

Well now, congratulations on your new Bambi... 16's rule!!!
Keep reading the forum, there is lots of advice here, a collective wealth of knowledge and opinion that can't be beat!

Upholstery can be expensive but I understand the desire to change things. I come from the boating world and have had a number of sailboat interiors re-built, this is pretty common here on the NE coast and a number of local business's exist for this type of work. I once had an entire cushion set re-covered by a seamstress who was retained by a local fabric store. She did a great job at a very competitive price. I got a good price on the fabric too...

Happy Airstreaming!
Bruce

Here is a video of the day we picked up our Bambi.....

Cute!

Bruce,
I actually saw your video a few months ago when I was searching the internet for Bambi information. So nice to meet you. You're kind of famous... Hey, my best friend from grad school and her family just bought a house in Jamestown,RI and are moving there shortly. They already told me about the RV park there and are lobbying for me to take a cross-country trip to Jamestown next summer. They are salt of the Earth people.
They love my airstream and will love yours even more. That serenity model is stunningly gorgeous.
I bought a 2005 and I couldn't tell from the pictures, but it has white fuzzy carpet all over the walls and ceiling. I think it's kind of trapping smell in it. Any ideas about how to get the smell out? The trailer was closed up for 1 1/2 years in Arizona.
It would be fun for you to meet up with Jen and her family. They are moving in less than a month.
Take care.
Nira

These are the most amazingly cute trailers and I've been in quite a few where owners have done amazing things with them! You'll also meet lots of us who pull longer units but there's always a bit of envy when we talk about our mileage!

Check out Terry B Rich from the Four corners group, he is the membership chairman and he and his partner Greg have a business redoing Airstream Interiors. You can hook up with his business and see all the changes they can make on line. Marc
