Hood Fan

I have 16' CCD and the hood fan seems a bit on the noisy side. Has anyone replacement the fan and if so which model did you use? Was it easy to change or require surgery?

I did a search on "Hood Fan" and found no threads.

This is on my to-do list for next spring. It will halve the fan speed but Airstreaming veteran Pahaska has quite (quiet?!) a fix: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f197...d-fan-838.html

.

[on edit: Please don't post to such an old thread; it usually isn't going to get questions to original posters in the thread. I can ask Pahaska to look in here if you wish more information. ]

CanoeStream...thanks for responding to my question. The hood fan drives me to cook outside if it's not raining or too cool. Could you please ask Pahaska to post some information about his modification and potentially a wiring diagram. Thanks in advance for your help.

Several years ago we modified our hood fan to a more pleasing shape and, at the same time, added a 12V Motor Speed Control from New England Solar Electric (Catalog Pg. 57 ). That control has worked perfectly since then and allows a fully variable speed with, of course, variable noise levels. They provide it in a form which fits into a conventional wiring box, but we ended up fitting it into a much smaller space.
