Got to correct a poor faucet kitchen design in a 16' 22FB

The 2016 22FB and probably older have a kitchen sink that has a fold down lid. The faucet head fold upright and the hot/cold shut off valve is on the side of the faucet base. I've read reports about what happens if the shut off valve is in the wrong position when the sink lid is closed on it. Simply put...FLOOD!

I've read some threads on here where folks have replaced the entire sink/faucet assembly. Frankly, I don't want to do that.
Therefore, I am looking for ideas/options/pictures of how other's have got around this issue which is frankly a poor design. I've now experienced a " flood of biblical proportions" and I'm not ready for a second one. Fortunately, it happened while I was still in the coach.

Ideas, photos etc will be greatly appreciated.

You might not want to do that, but that's the best cure for the problem.
Replace the sink with the sink similar to the one in a 2017+ 22 Sport.

Before towing we always turn off the water pump and run a faucet until the water pressure is relieved. Inevitably the bouncing around when on the road will open a faucet.

Thanks for your comment...I agree and we do likewise. Unfortunately our flood occurred while we were in the coach. Wife had been washing dishes and I was outside getting ready to leave our campsite. Somehow inadvertently the lid was closed and the sink lid "silently" open the faucet valve and started the flood!

I like the idea of a lid on the sink as it gives more "flat counter space" when needed.

Easy solution: Before closing the fold down lid, fold sink faucet down on opposite side of the small hot/cold water off/on handle.

My permanent fix was to unscrew the stem/handle on the little valve...pop the plastic plug off the hollow end.... using a bench-grinder (or a file would also work) grind about 3/16" of length off the stem/handle.... push the plastic plug back into the hollow end...and screw the stem/handle back into the valve.

Now when folding the pipe back down in to the sink...it will not contact the faucet valve-handle. (We also turn the pump OFF when not inside the trailer. A leak anywhere in the system will either flood or at the least, empty the fresh water tank.)

That's the exact position the faucet was in when the lid was accidentally closed. The problem isn't the faucet spout but the little on off valve that controls the flow and temp. If it's in the wrong position when the lid is closed down..."it will turn on the water". This occurred while the dishes were being washed and the sink was plugged.
