There were small differences before #50 was wrecked and rebuilt by Timeless Trailers on a new chassis (some interior pieces including lighting, bathroom door, and the numbered nameplate were salvaged—Airstream OKed keeping the number). Now #50 has overhead cabinet doors similar to the Flying Clouds, 10-year newer stove and refrigerator along with an improved step and several storage innovations; floor covering is new but identical to original. #01 has over 80,000 miles and still uses elastic cords and half clothespins on the overhead cabinets and bungie cords on the refrigerator.

Windows
Did the little oval windows above the square windows come on none dw 19 footers? HS any one built dw ideas into a none dw 19? I would like to start with the rear lounge bed design.

An extra curbside window stack and front wrap around windows. There are also extra things in the interior that I felt were needed. The floor plan will basically be the same but with some modifications. I'm aiming to make it seem even more spacious than the original but with tons of storage.
Not sure yet what number or ? to badge it. I have blank badges.

sorry, missed this question...
Yes to both your questions.
Also added a slide out table curbside. It's incredibly practical.

Antenna support
Thought I should post this here; I already put it up in "Roof"...
So I was on top of our Bambi to size up what I needed to replace a cracked vent cover. In the process, I discovered the antenna support, or rest, dislodged and, well, mangled.
Apparently AS used double-sided tape and some kind of adhesive, both deteriorated with age, to "seat" the support on the roof of a vehicle capable of pretty decent speeds while moving. No rivets. No solid attachment. Just double-sided tape.
I feel incredibly lucky that this aluminum construct did not fly off in transit and hit someone. When I found it, I gently lifted the antenna and it slid right into my hand. Now that's some spectacular engineering.
Has anyone else experienced this type of manufacturing excellence on their AS? Have you even looked at this part? You might want to do a quick inspection.

I contacted AS trying to find a replacement since the original was so bent. Wasn't sure I could get it straight without breaking it completely.
Found out that the part, "Antenna Trough", is obsolete and out of stock. I was told nothing like it is used today(?). However, AS Customer Service sent me the engineers drawing from manufacturing archive. I'll be taking that to a local shop to have a new one created.
On reinstall; I recognize 4 more rivets is 4 more likely leaks but think it may be worth it to make sure it stays put. I was planning on treating those rivets the same as AS treated the roof vents etc. With a very healthy dose of AdSeal.
AS lathered on the AdSeal at the roof vents and that all needs maintenance after 10 years anyway. Anyone know of a better way or product to reseal on top?
Thanks.

After 8 great years with our Winick Custom, #06, the time has come that we need to sell it, so just posted an ad in the Airforums Classified section. We have enjoyed the comradery on this Winick thread, and been disappointed that the reply activity has slowed down somewhat over the last couple years.
We wish we could have kept it, as we could never see ourselves in any other model Airstream. None of them can match the warm, inviting interior. It's amazing how many people, mostly other Airstreamers, that we've met while camping that just had to have a look, seeing even from a distance that it's not the typical Airstream they know or might have seen before.
A special thanks to Dave and Kathy McGrath for setting up the registry http://www.campadk.com/40winker/75thregistry.html, and everything else you've done for the Winick community over all these years!
Here's one of my favorite photos out of the 100's I've probably taken of "Wanda" over the last 8 years. They look good no matter where you park them, but settings like this can't be beat, the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon.

I did neglect to mention on here that what we sold our Winick back in October of 2016. Basically sold in one day although the new buyers did have to drive up from Tennessee to pick it up here in Ottawa, Ontario. Couldn't have gone to a nicer couple!
Your Winick is very well priced. Someone in the know will grab it fast!
We never thought we would decide to sell ours, but after spending 3 years on our Scotty Cabin Cruiser reno, it just didn't make sense to have so much moola wrapping up in 2 awesome trailers. Would have always been sad to leave one home lol.

#49 is on classifieds
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f534...is-196350.html
For those of you who have this model, check out this posting. I have a long list of upgrades you might be interested in doing to your Winick.
My 3 favorites are:
--200W of solar power which saved us many times boondocking.
--Isotherm marine 12v refrigerator with small freezer which is soooo quiet and holds a ton more than the OEM frig.
--Rope light under awning with dimmer. This frees up space from the outside lights we used to store in the trailer. The dimmer is awesome!
Love this retro Bambi and all the hidden storage plus a decent countertop with spice rack above but need to go bigger when we try full timing next year.

number 57 still going strong

We would like to get $50k for it, which seems to be the going rate for one in excellent condition. If anyone knows anyone who is looking for one, please contact me at hdavis18@mac.com. I will be glad to send pictures and answer any questions. The trailer is located in Statesville, NC.
Thanks very much.

Ethel, not sure if you're still tracking this thread, but though you might like to know that number 57 is still out there going strong. We just bought it in northern California and took it for a 900mi maiden voyage up and down the CA coast. Already planning our next trip.

Selling #18 Bambi
Hello all. It is with very mixed emotions that we have decided to sell our beloved Winick 75th Anniversary Bambi. She is Number 18.We bought her new in 2007 and have created wonderful memories with her. Unfortuanatly we now are in our mid seventies and the time has come to cease camping.
We plan to list her in the Forums' Classifieds. We would welcome recommendations of other places to advertise her. (Ebay?)
We are having the exterior detailed next week and then we will get photos and list her.

That is an amazing trailer. So special. You will have no trouble selling on classifieds. RV trader is fine too but general public don’t / won’t understand the value that the Winick commands.
Good luck with your sale. I’ve had the privilege of seeing one of these up close, they are amazing.
