About to pull the trigger
DW and I are in intensive negotiations to buy a 2017 Sport 22FB and I have a question that stumped the salesman. Maybe someone here can answer me.
Does the bathroom sink empty into the gray tank or the black tank?
My current RV (aka "the trade in") has the bathroom sink emptying into the black tank, and I like that. It allows me to easily finish filling the black tank before dumping.
Thanks in advance,
Bobbo

Judging by the layout for the 22' I'm going to take an educated guess that the sink goes into the black water tank as it's right beside it.
Make sure you remember to click to the 22' layout.

But on further investigation I was wrong! Just read the owners manual and copied this excerpt.
The main (Black Water) holding tank enables you to use the toilet for several days away from disposal facilities The wastewater from the sink, shower, bath and lavatory drains into the auxiliary (Gray Water) holding tank

After a little back and forth, we came to an agreement with the dealer. (He claims we robbed him, but he would not have made the sale if he lost money.) I just put a deposit down. It will be 3 weeks before we can take possession as we are leaving town in 2 days and will be gone for almost 3 weeks, but the 22FB is ours.

Congrats on the purchase. I was really close to going with the 22 but decided to go with the 25. I get a kick out of salesman who make those comments as if consumers should feel bad about giving them business. I negotiated with the dealership as well but in the end, the buyer and seller both felt good about the deal so it was a win win. Enjoy the new AS!

"About to pull the trigger"
Congratulations and welcome to the madness. Be sure to take the time to go over every inch of your new Airstream before signing on the bottom line and handing over the check. If there are any issues QC or other wise insure that they are all 100% corrected to your satisfaction before taking delivery.

Congrats on the Sport 22FB. We bought our forst Airstream (Sport 22FB 2017) this past September and love it. To answer your question on the gray/black and water tanks, the only water going into the black water tanks is the toilet. You will find that the gray water tank can fill up quite quickly so highly recommend hook up when you travel. This trailer was not made for more than a couple of days of boondocking and has little storage for the longer trips unless you are highly organized. That said, we love ours and wouldn't trade it. Also as a fellow Newbie, we have found that the blog Long Long Honeymoon (loloho) has some great videos on everything from organizing your trip with checklists to backing up the trailer into spaces to hooking up and then packing up to leave a site. And lastly, while we are in the DFW area, Colonial Airstream has a walkthrough video on YouTube that is very informative on the 2017 Sport 22. Have fun!!!

I like to see the salesman shake, and cry a little, then I know I am getting close to a good deal. They are good actors!

Gray tank vs black tank
We are fully solarized and carry extra water as we love boondocking in our 26U. We keep a plastic tub in the "kitchen" sink in which we wash dishes, etc. Instead of letting this go into our gray tank, we simply carry it into the bathroom and dump it in the toilet. We do the same thing with our smaller bathroom sink. This saves precious space in our 39 gal gray tank for showering and helps flush the 39 gal black tank. Can't imagine anyone ever needing 39 gal of black tank capacity.....

I just hold down the flush pedal on the toilet for a while to add more water to facilitate easier dumping. Certainly not as convenient as turning on the faucet, but it helps.
CONGRATS on the new trailer. Yes, go over it very carefully before the paperwork, so as to fix anything at all before driving away. TEST everything, every outlet, fixture, A/C, fans, lights, doors, drawers, etc., etc.

Bobbo...(and others).... go to the Airstream site and download the plumbing and electrical schematics for your trailer and you'll be happy you did someday.
The only thing that goes into the black tank is the toilet on a 22' Sport.
When we dry camp/boondock, we have a plastic bucket kept in the shower. While awaiting hot water for the shower we capture that water in the bucket, and use it to flush the toilet. After the flush, we also use a bit of it to place water onto the toilet valve again. If you put a quart or so of water on the valve before doing "number two" it will flush really cleanly.
There is a humorous (NOT) story of the guy who was back-flushing his black water tank and walked away temporarily, forgetting he was filling his black tank with water for the bf. He overfilled it and sewage spewed up and out the roof-vent and onto the surrounding area (presumeably including himself.)
I tell that story to inform you that the black and grey tanks SHARE that vent (they join up just behind/between your wardrobe and bathroom wall). So if he did indeed forget.... he forgot BIG time because he would have also filled his grey tank after the black tank was at capacity.... and THEN the effluent spewed out the roof. (Ordinarily that grey tank would never receive anything from the black tank, not only because of the high-point of the vent's joining the two, but also the toilet bowl is also below that joint, and the toilet would simply not flush if the black tank were already full. The only way to accomplish sewage in the grey tank is to use the bf and forget, and fill the black to overflowing with the toilet valve closed. If you fill the grey tank inadvertently it will also backflow into the shower floor.... so DON"T forget and walk away while backflushing your system.)
Your pump and pump-screen and lots more stuff is beneath the wardrobe floor which lifts out for viewing. You'll be disappointed in what you see down there.
Otherwise.... you'll LOVE that 22' Sport! Congrats!

Where can I find the schematics? The only ones I can find are one page in the owner's manual. Are there more complete schematics?
Thanks

Almost. In this case "pull the trigger" is a euphemism for "buy." In a more general sense, it is a euphemism for "act on an idea that has been under consideration."
