Not sure about splicing another panel into the controller, I would check with controller manufacturer. Why not just get portable panel with controller and connect to battery directly (you may have zamp input already?? Several ways to do this. Point of portable one is to move and angle to sun as roof mounted may be in shade and are usually not at max angle for sun
I have two solar panels on the roof and a wanderer pwm charge controller.
The controller only has one+ and one - solar input.
I would like to add a folding panel and use the same controller.
Is it acceptable to slice into the solar wires coming from the roof to add the panel to the controller.
Or are there y connectors for the solar wiring to take input from two panels for the one input on the controller. Small as possible as this in under the seat in the sport 16.
Thanks.
It's fine to just splice the panels in parallel assuming they have blocking diodes built in, most do. Most solar charge controllers only have one set of inputs so that's how everyone does it.
My controller is 30 amp. With the suitcase panel l should be between 15-20 amps. I have ordered a solar generator with a built-in mppt solar controller and I want to utilize it.
My solar wires are green and yellow going into the controller. I am looking for the cleanest and easiest way to add the wires from the suitcase panel. If that is ok
My current idea is to mount two small bus bars just for solar input into the controller. Any other suggestions?
Below is picture of my set up. Just noticed my controller is not lithium ready, but that is another story or another day.
Thanks

Hi.. i have the same unit. No solar panels but a solar connection for ZAMP. Mine came wit one battery. I tried for 2 but the bracket that accompanies the sway bars land right in the middle of the battery bracket prohibiting adding a second battery...
So now, I am looking into changing to a lithium 100ah battery. Lighter but way, way more expensive and probably needs an inverter. Still researching.
to use parallel solar panels they should be the same capacity, better to be the same make and model. If not, you will only get as good as the least cable panel.
if different panel capacity go series.
some people go series & parral if the have pairs of two type of panels ie a few years ago and this year
