2015 Bambi Solar wiring

I am getting ready to add solar to my system. I don't think the trailer is pre-wired for solar, but how can I be sure?

Airstream travel trailer
Year: 2015
Model: 16S
Body: CT
VIN: 1STHRAC13FJ531586

What is the recommended wire path for solar? Where do people mount the solar charge controller?

Thanks!

Got this from the 2015 Sport manual, you should have a prewire and a port to use for your upgrade.

The pre-wire should come out of the wall in the area of the buss-bars, inside at the front of the Airstream. Look for a yellow and green wire pair that is not attached to anything.

Other posts indicate that in 2015 there was not a Zamp roof junction box, but the roof end of the pre-wire was tucked in the trim of the Fantastic Fan. See https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...on-133838.html as an example.
Good luck on the hunt and safe travels.

I found my solar prewire! It was tucked out of sight with all the other wires in the front mechanical compartment.

solar prewire

Solar prewire was tucked in the front edge of the fan (this picture is upside down).

Look for the cut green and yellow wires.

Can I just punch a hole in the roof in front of these and bring the pannel wires in with a grommet in the metal?

I would get a roof port and connect those wires to the inner terminals on the port.

A rubber grommet where the wires pass through the aluminum skin would make sense.

The port can be sealed in with sikaflex caulking.

Then you can plug your panel(s) in using an MC4 connector or something similar.
