Dear friends, distinguished associates, and fellow rally attendees...

Given the reshuffling of events (Laser show on Saturday instead of Friday), we are attempting to properly evaluate the ROI (return on investment) of bringing our "tools of music" for Friday evening's festivities.

Last year, the overall gathering on Friday was a bit as attendees arrived/ate/left, which was somewhat understandable given the varying time of check-in for attendees. From the band's perspective, we would not care to have a repeat.

While the pavillion is still reserved for an 8:00 "gathering" on Friday, our site is quite centrally located in the midst of the rest of the units and conveniently located next to the playground.

From a logistical point of view, it would be much less trouble to set up between our site and the playground compared to lugging everything up to the pavillion (especially if rally attendees would rather not take the walk).

We have a volume knob which works both ways, so sound (or too much) need not be a problem. Bring a chair and your favorite snack/beverage and enjoy the music.

If enough people prefer the pavillion, we can go ahead as planned. But if a laid back evening around the fire is preferable, this is less work for us.

Both#160 and #164 said they had to cancel but I don't know if they have called the park to cancel their sites yet. I'll try to find out.

From what I understand, the people in #160 cancelled with the park yesterday.
Did you mention you're with the TAC group when you called? (Sometimes the reservations people are confused.) Maybe someone snatched it already.

Wow, 17 for dinner at the Germain place. That should be big enough to bring on the polka band!

We are getting very excited about this coming weekend. Looking forward to seeing friends from last year and making new friends this year. In thinking about travel plans I remembered this special note from last year.

Warning: Please be aware that you will encounter a "low clearance underpass" with a minimum clearance of 12 feet if your GPS directions route you to the "West Gate" of Stone Mountain Park via James B. River/Memorial Drive . To avoid this low clearance underpass, you should enter the Park using the "East Gate" via Exit 8 on US78.

Thought it was worth mentioning again this year for those who may not be familiar.

Also last year we were instructed to post our forum screen name in the drivers side window of our tow vehicle so we could get in the gate without paying the $10 entry fee. Does anyone know if this is the same again this year?

It looks like the weather is going to about perfect. Not to hot and not to cold. Wish we could get there for the dinner on Thursday but will be ready to join the fun on Friday morning.
