So far today it seems like it's show off your Big-O-Class A rig. I saw around a dozen on I-20 east this morning

This is great! We're in the Maple Grove KOA and there are two more Excellas here! Of course, neither of them had heard about the October 5th Airstream America. I told them about the forum. It's good to have them here!

I did my part!

Took the '78 Sovereign on her first "road trip" about 70 miles from the house.

Pics are at the Oak Thickette Campground at Lake Fayette operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority. Close to LaGrange, Texas.

Gypsy made her fall road trip up the Mississippi, on up the North Shore of Lake Superior, and back home again this past week/weekend. She made a good advertisement for Airstream. At one brunch stop yesterday, a group of three young men came running across the parking lot, calling out to see if they could look inside. They oohed and ahhed and one was telling the others that this was the "Cadillac" of rv's. The word "icon" was overheard too. I just smiled and enjoyed watching them admire our treasure. This post and the road show: good idea! ~G

Great idea… Show America – Use Your Airstream Weekend…

We had ours on the road Friday, the start of the Columbus Day Weekend.

We also think it’s a good idea to show your Flag,

Especially as Veterans Day approaches!

We spent Friday and Saturday nights at Four Mile Creek State Park near Youngstown, NY. We didn't see any other Airstreams there or on the road.

Thumbs up Show America Your As.

Took our day trip to Letchworth State Park yesterday.

Saw one Argosy heading west on the NY Thruway. The park was crowded

on the "Leaf Peep'n" weekend, drew a lot of questions while parked at the

overlooks................Great Fun

We also used our Safari as "base camp" for the rocketry section at the MIS Speedway Boy scout camporee!

Great weekend camping on the beach!

We travelled thru CT, NY, NJ and PA this weekend.
Got stuck between the Jets/Giants game at the Meadowlands in NJ and the Yankees/Indians playoff game in the Bronx, NY though.

I got mine hooked up and we towed it all over on Friday - the only sunny day of the weekend until this morning. We traveled along the Trans Canada for an hour, then turned around and back. Then I set it up in the back yard, complete with awning out, mat down and lawn chairs, and while my wife entertained her company (her sister and sister in law are in from the Prairies) I camped out, slept in it, and had a wonderful time.

On Saturday my friend picked me up and we drove (sans our Airstreams unfortunately) down to Monroe, WA for a day of automotive swap meeting. Along the way we saw two Airstreams being towed and half a dozen including one Argosy parked in yards. One in particular just north of Lynden, WA and on the road toward Sumas in almost entirely engulfed by black berries so we are going to go back and ping pang on the door in a couple of weeks and see if it's possible to rescue it.

I would have liked to have done more visible travel but not being able to drive I have the dependency on the love of my life to get me there and back.

Glad to see a lot of "us" got out in some fashion and I expect that this will grow legs and by next year there will be a lot more out and about, including us. We've already notified family and friends that we'll be "on the road" the long weekend of October 2008.

So, as soon as I get my camera upload software reloaded (one of our guests seems to have blown it away while trying to upload hers) I'll put a couple of pics here.

Take care, and hope you all have enjoyed your weekend.

Barry

This was pretty cool. We went up to New Berlin NY south of Utica to do a National GNCC (Grand National Cross Country) race a couple of weeks ago. There must have been at least 1000+ campers there. We were the only Airstream I could find out of all the "Big" SOB's. Got a lot of "very cool's" from passer by's.
We were hanging with the big boys in the pit area...
This was the morning of the race.....

We drove home from Eureka Springs, Ark to Blacksburg, VA on Sunday and saw at least nine of you in the west bound lane scattered along the 950 mile route. Very cool!

We just returned from our "Show your Airstream" weekend, made a 3 dayer out of it. 210 miles up the Natchez Trace spotting an Argosy RV headed south on Friday. On the way home today we looped into Davis Lake campground and there they were! We continued to the Busby stop to buy fuel and as we pulled out, in comes a 34' unit from Texas towed by a white Ford. Lots of waves!
I caught a fleeting glimps of some form of an Airstream on friday as they headed down hwy 49 from Jackson.

Thats 3 times the number I've seen on any other in-state outing!!!!

I spend many hours each evening reading the forum and don't know why but it's the first time I read this thread.
But nothing wrong, I was on the road... I saw another AS today on hw 1 after Cache Creek - BC.
And Saturday or Friday, leaving calgary, on a bridge that overpass the hw1 a car stopped and the traffic with it and waved... I thought that was cool...
BTW it's a great idea...

We traveled from one end of CT to the other for the NEU Lost Dutchman Rally which was a blast! Our trailer would have been seen on Friday afternoon and on Monday morning traveling to and fro. But the BEST sighting we saw was this:

Trailer decorating above and beyond!!
AMAZING!

That is hilarious. I gotta get me a set up like that. It's WAY cooler than what I have now of which I'm rather embarrassed. I wasn't till I saw this but now I am.
