Poconos
Need some help! We are trying to put together a rally for Labor Day Weekend 2009 for about 50 rigs in the Poconos and I am having difficulty in finding a campground. Does anyone know of such a place that has a rally field or facilities to host such an event?

KOA - Poconos
Not sure if they can accomodate. Worth checking out. A friend stayed there and said it was nice. We are planning an Airstreaming weekend there this Winter.
Open all year
This KOA offers the Pocono Mountains' finest family camping in an area where 40 miles of the Delaware River run between high bluffs and forested shores. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a boon for canoeists, kayakers, rafters, hikers and scenery seekers. Spectacular Bushkill Falls, near a Native American museum, is worth the short hike. On weekends, visit an indoor flea market, then return to grassy, wooded and open sites. Open all year, this KOA offers easy access to the winter wonderland at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, just half a mile down the road. Groups are welcome and can gather in the KOA's meeting pavilion. Enjoy pancake breakfasts on site at Mary T's Country Kitchen, Saturday bingo in season, and hayrides and miniature train rides.
To view more information on this campground access this campground's independent website.

We camped at Knoebels campground last summer - it's also a GREAT amusement park attached to it (pools, rides, food vendors)..It was really one of the best times we've ever had
Check it out at:

KEV-
Yes, they too were on my hit list! They said they had too many regulars who attend each year for Labor Day to accomodate us. Gee, is there anyone out there who wants 50 Airstreams for a long weekend?

For that many rigs, you might want to check into local fairgrounds.

Lynn-
We usually save the fairgrounds for 100+ rigs. 50 Rigs shouln't be that much of a problem, at least not up here in the New England area. I guess I'm so used to camp grounds that have rally fields. Perhaps you are right though if we want something in the PA area on that weekend.

There used to be a really cool campground off 611, near Scotrun or Tannersville, can't remember which. It was on the side of a hill. We camped there in the late 60's, early 70's. Anyone know if it still exists. May have been called Scotrun Campground back in the day.

It's probably a development by now!

Pocono fairground and parks
Hi,
Used to live in the Poconos area. Here's some contact information for the West End Fairgrounds. They have welcomed Airstreamers in the past. Contacts:
Gene Mackes 610.681.4967
Brenda Dorshimer 610.381.3895
Larry Krome 610.681.4788
As far as state parks go, Promised Land State Park is definitely the nicest in the area. It puts you is easy striking distance of some great drives along the upper Delaware River.
Further west is Hickory Run State Park. Also a nice park with some interesting hikes and boulder fields.
Best of luck, it's a great area.

Rick, I have called a few of the campgrounds in the Woodals directory and they all said that that is a very busy weekend. I say "We are talking 50 trailers, a pavilion rental and all. How can you not want to book 50 at one time? " the response is "we are always full then." We might be looking at the wrong weekend to do this.

LOL! Most of Scotrun has been turned into an outlet mall by now. My parents still live in the Poconos, and the development there is crazy. They keep threatening to move to Vermont....

Is it possible to join one of these raly's? We are new to this and would love to see other airstreams and renovation projects.

Is it happening?
I don't think they were ever able to find a spot that would be a suitable host, or did you guys?

Hi Rick
Does it have to be in the Poconnos? What about Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival In South Jersey. They will have room for you and the price is reasonable. ( about $65 for 4 days camping with concerts )
