We had a blast this past weekend at Delaware State Park. Great friends, over abundance of food, and never a dull moment! Especially with a gaggle of dogs with us (3 doxis, 1 lab, 1 lab mix, and 1 german mix) and surrounded by screaming machines from the baby makers next door! Fun was had by all and we look forward to the next weekend where strawberries, waffles, and multiple paninis are the staple of the weekend

We were at Delaware State Park over the holiday weekend. For 40 years, we've always stayed home on major holiday because of the masses on the highways. But, this year, we HAD to go out there and be 'streamin! It was an absolutely beautiful weekend. We had one of our three favorite sites there - surrounded by shubbery and so quiet in the evenings. So many people but so quiet and well behaved families. We had a marvelous time. Keep posting your destinations as we've got a couple open dates and we'll try to join you. We're going to the Chillicothe area in a couple of weeks. We're going to check out that 10/10/10 campground in the Amish territory later this summer. I don't have my calendar handy to give specific dates - next time. Looking forward to some time with you folks - especially now that DW is about 98% recovered from the auto accident. We love her replacement automobile - she really likes it. Now we await the results from our attorney's efforts with the insurance company. Talk to you all soon - enjoy those days and nights on the road!

We had an excellent weekend at Delaware SP. As Loren (airbiscuit) mentioned we had wayyyyy lots of great food! Shinim always has fabulous fare. But remember, she always tells us that "there are no calories, no fat and no sugar in camping foods"! LOL! The weather was almost perfect. The mosquitos were not too bad. Al got the fogger out and that kept them down pretty well. The doggies were all well behaved. Too bad that the folks on one side of us had a wild bunch of noisy little kids who were crazy with their tiny training wheeled bikes...but we had a good time anyway. We spotted another AS in the campground and invited them to join the forums. They were from the Toledo area. Great weekend! We hope to see some of the rest of you down the road.

I asked this Q once but somehow in working with the servers Andy says he lost a bunch of Posts.
You mentioned Strawberry's and waffles next weekend, that got my attention. Where is this happening???? I know the local Strawberry Festival is on this coming weekend in Troy. I was wondering if that was what you were referring too.
I am hoping for the arrival of new hinges for the pantry door and me having time enough to finish the repair of the sink faucets. I have 4 or 5 other issues to address but nothing that will keep us from campin.
We just need a couple of days led time to get ready. Its been hectic around here,we are ready to run away and take a break for a couple of days.

Sorry Roger!
Yes, our thread lost a whole page of replies!
The waffles and strawberries were what we made at camp last weekend. Larry and I bought an iron that cooks waffles over the campfire. We tried it out. Shinim and I both bought strawberries. We sugared them down and served them with ice cream.......then Loren got a great idea and put them on the waffles with lots and lots of whipped cream. We all get creative with our pie irons and waffle irons and panini irons. Lots of fun!
I did read that there was a strawberry festival in Troy. Hope you get your projects done. Hurry up!!! The season will be over before you know it!!! You have missed a month + already! Go for it!!!

you'd think since we're only 10 minutes from there that we'd know of it, but I barely recall seeing the sign at the road for it. Barring some emergency, I'd say we'll be there.

Larry and I signed on to help Loren out with her PaddleQuest. She needs extra hands to register folks, help with giving away the free lunches when you register for the event, and putting up signs and stuff. The event will run from early Sat. a.m. til maybe 2:00. Loren says if you go to the Gander website and preregister you are in for the drawing of all kinds of neato "stuff" that they are giving away.
The rest of the time we will be "campin'". Yesterday afternoon, we went down to the Pleasant Hill Lake Campground. Seems to be a quiet, hilly place which has several camping areas carved out of the hillsides. We have not reserved our spots yet, but will let you all know which we have reserved when we get that done.

Not much to see in Perrysville unless you get in to the backroads of the Mohican area. If you blink you miss the town. LOL! However, the park is part of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. Nice big lake with a dam, another marina, lot of water sports going on. This looks like a good place to fish if anyone has the ambition! The campsites are smaller and grassy, not paved like Mohican State Park. Pleasant Hill Lake

Ok the new cabinet hinges came today and I installed them so the pantry door is again hung. The PO also change the catch so I have that to deal with, which should not be hard WalMart carrys that stuff, its only a plastic catch. Next is the Galley facuset to deal with, thats a realiening and tightening issue. Means I have to work on my back under the sink. Its great fun. That should get us to where we can go out on the road again.
Let us know how ya register and what the fees will be. I think we are ready for a git away.at least I am.
Somebody say FREE LUNCH count me in. If ya need help we maybe could come in on Friday to help out also. Just a thought.

Maybe that's why I've always missed the sign. I am on 95 often, but always on the motorcycle, perhaps I'm just going to fast . I'm not really thinking about camping when I'm biking.
I am jealous that you had time to drive down to Pleasant Hill just to check out the campsites. I can't wait to be retired. Only 36 more years...

calling the park today
Roger, we will call the park today and see about getting a site and then we will post the details here. Glad to hear that you are registered. You do not have to get into the water. Loren says they have some free boat rides going on at the Marina so you can go see the lake if you want to take a short trip. Otherwise, you might get to stand around and work with the rest of us oldies! LOL

I mentioned the free boat rides and the kyacks being given away and that did spark some interest. We both swim and like the water. We just have been to busy in the past years to do it. I think I may buy a fishin license. I have not done that for yrs. I think its about time. Let us know what you find out.

Neighbors To The West,
I don't want to butt in here, but I wanted to do some publicity for our upcoming Fall Colors Forum Rally on October 1-4, 2009 at Penn Wood Airstream Park. I know Atabols and Loudruff are already signed up (thank you by the way), and I just wanted to get the invite out there to as many eyes as possible. If it isn't too far or doesn't conflict with another trip we'd love to see you at Penn Wood. You don't need to wait until October though, if you're in the north western portion of the Keystone State stop on in and sit a spell.
PS - I saw in the thread that Airbiscuit has a pop up...I just want to let them know that they are welcome at Penn Wood too and WBCCI membership is not necessary, just a free spirit, a willingess to relax, and have a good time are all we ask .

Pleasant Hill Lake Campground
Roger, we have reserved site #111 in the campground. We picked up a campground map while we were down there. The roads are a little narrow and the sites are grassy and narrow. Larry says we will fit! LOL! 102 and 112 are alongside and behind us, but there is a whole little section there that is available still. The phone number to call 419-938-7884 Talk to Sue. You can usually catch her before 4:00 p.m. Registration is from 9 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Sun. thru Thurs., Fri. and Sat. 9-9:00 p.m. and check out is by 4:00.
