We've got a "partial" camping weekend planned. A friend of ours just graduated with a masters degree and she and her husband are having a cookout on Sat. at their house. It's not officially a camping deal, but even though we only live 10 min. away we have opted to take the AS and therefore can put the kids down whenever and keep partying ourselves and then crawl into the AS instead of driving home. Turns out another mutual friend has access to a "family owned" Argosy 28 MH. I'm trying to get him and his fiancee to show up, too. I might get one or two SoBs to show up. So, Friday night / Sat AM is working at our house, then camping, then more work on Sunday. One of these days my home duties will be reduced to nothing other than mowing the lawn!

As of now, we've got nothing planned for Memorial weekend. Anyone have ideas looking forward to 2 weekends from now?

Welcome to Ohio. I thought you were already here. Came through Mt. Gilead OH on Friday afternoon. There was a newer A/S and TV sitting in a parking lot in downtown - had Texas plates on it.

I think you made a wise choice coming across US 50.It really is a nice drive and the road is smooth and lots to see. This is why my wife HATES Interstates.I think I would have taken the bypass around Cincinnati though. But You made it ok thats the main thing.
We hope you enjoy your stay with us. Although I have never been to Rocky Fork I heard its lovely.
Hope we get to see ya sometime this summer at once of our get together's.

Cincinnatti and US 50

To me US 50 is the best way to view the city in a passing thru mode...I was suprised at the ease and continunity that the road still has through a major city..it winds down by the river on the east side...no traffic...road is somewhat narrow...but one can see the industrial and residential history of the city...only once does one have to emerge on an interstate like road...where 50 and 52 split but then it is back to the past as america was...and then you emerge at Milford...what a unique little city...

I avoid interstates like the plague in any situation i can

Rocky Fork is beautiful...but Burr Oak is spectacular.....

and back up route 148 and route 9 and 147 back to barnesville....beautiful scenery ...ohio is a beautiful place...

headed to mohican state park today..we have previously investigated this area briefly and can't wait to get there for a few days stay...before heading to findley state park.......

If you are close to Findley you must be close to Jackson Center. You have time to make it to the Alumapalooza. Or perhaps you could pop in for the free Open House on Saturday and the festival in town. That should be a great time.

Mohican is beautiful as is Loudenville. Can't wait to see you Monday here! If you roll in to Findley state park early, let me know. I am off this weekend and have a shopping trip planned for Sunday in Columbus if you or your smart wife would like to go We will be hitting Easton Mall (its HUGE) and a few outlets. Plan to return by dinner though so its gonna be a fast one!

wish

Wish you were all here. Alumapalooza has been busy. They say they are expecting 50 more trailers tomorrow...or something like that. We are having fun visiting everyone and putting faces to screen names.

Al and Shinim and Loren, go and visit kingfisher24 and tell them we look forward to seeing them on Mon.!! Al and Shinim, how are the pig roast plans coming? All set? See you all soon.

pig roast??

I am a novice pig roaster...having roasted two pigs last fourth of july

Our journey thru Ohio has been really great...since entering on Route US 50 through old cincinnati...to Hillsboro..then route 138 to lancaster, logan nelsonville ,athens and glouster...just unmatched beauty...Burr Oak State Park and up Route 7 and the Holmes county tour...and yesterday a beautiful drive from Loudenville..thru Mt Vernon thru the country to bellafontaine and then to the Mother Ship at JC...then the return trip on the back roads to Marion... no offense to anyone; however, I did not care a flip about the Marion area...but once out of there heading to mansfield,,,the beauty returned in spades and via route 97 back to Mohican....

Ohio is number 1 on my places to settle down if i ever grow up

today ...going to explore more in holmes and surrounding counties....maybe the wally road again...beautiful...

what is the origin of the name wally road???
