So many fun things to do, and so little time to squeeze them in. We have an out west trip planned for 2013 so TN penciled in for 2014 .

I just returned from Delfest, a fabulous bluegrass and jamgrass festival in Cumberland, Md. There was 4 days of music non-stop from 10 am to 3 am. There were about 10 airstreams in attendance, so shiny aluminum was well represented. Much thanks to Brewhead for promoting this festival and providing the discount code. I definately plan to return next year.

Next on my music festival radar is Rudyfest (www.rudyfest.com) in western Kentucky the weekend of June 23 and then the Red, White and Blue festival over the long July 4 holiday weekend in Morganton, NC.

On August 10-12, Rockin the Rivers takes place on the Jefferson river near Three Forks Montana. It has a mix of rock styles over the three days. Friday is headlined by 90's rock band "Live." Saturday is 80's hair metal. I'm going on Sunday because Kenny Logins plays. There is on site camping that you can reserve on their website.

I've never gone to this festival before, but I'm guessin it might be kinda rowdy. I'm don't want to take my Globetrotter to this festival until I check it out. I booked my campsite 4 miles west at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park. This is a very nice campground in a nice setting. There are some spots with electric. There is also a bathroom with running water. Very pretty in the Jefferson River Valley of Montana.

Wife and I are headed out June 21 to 24 to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Any other Airstreamers heading out for the big event. We have a site reserved at the Matterhorn CG 12 miles down the road from town. Schedule includes Alison Krauss, John Prine, John Fogerty, Bruce Hornsby, Leftover Salmon, K.D. Lang, Yonder Mountain String Bank, Sam Bush, and many others. Should be a great festival.

Cheers,
Bigcgar and Vicki

Wheelerimage, how could you NOT go on Friday, when there's a band named Airstream Safari???

If you haven't seen Live play before, they put on a GREAT show, but it looks like it's just the lead singer from Live... wonder if he's singing Live songs? He didn't write them, the bass player was the song writer in the group, so I wonder if he has rights to do so. Hmmmm....

Have a blast! Post how you liked Matterhorn and your take on it. The res system looked confusing...sometimes spts were walk in, sometimes reserved. Never been to bluegrass yet, maybe next year..we'll reserve for then!

We'll bee listening on live stream again on KOTO!

Home Page | Bluesapalooza This festival and Telluride are now on my bucket list. The dream plan is to leave Florida traveling to Telluride taking a leisure 5 or 6 days. After attending the festival head to Vacaville CA where Haily will stay in storage with Family until August when we will fly out for a return trip attending Mammoth Blues and Brew! Summer 2014, as we are committed this year and next year is our Grand Canyon trip.

Baambi7. I'll give an update on Matterhorn CG after we return. I understand it to be very nice and it gets rated 5 stars from the book Colorado Campgrounds "the top 100 and all the rest". I made my reservation back in January once tickets went on sale so I was guaranteed a place to camp. Unfortunately all of the festival tickets were sold out but I've learned that I can pick them up on Craigslist and in Telluride from people who are looking to sell them so not too worried "yet". Everyone I know that's attended say it's a blast. Can't wait.

Talking

Taylormade,

I think I might just also go to Rockin the Rivers on Friday. I do want to see live(or the singer from live). I'm sure he will do Live songs. Anybody can sing any song they want. ASCAP & BMI make sure songwriters receive their royalties.

Whats Airstreamers might want to know about Rockin the Rivers is the location on the Jefferson River near Three Forks, Montana. Three Forks is where the Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin Rivers combine to form the Missouri River. All blue ribbon trout streams. I don't like the Music lineup on Saturday so maybe I'll bring my raft and float the Madison on Saturday. Then hear Kenny Loggins on Sunday.

Haha, I saw that one of the bands on friday is called Airstream Safari. I watched their online video. They sound good! Maybe if I pull my old Safari to the festival I can get groupie status! And my Airstream Safari Shagg'n Wagg'n will be close by. haha

Tickets just went on sale for the 4and20 Blackbird Festival in Weed -- not bad -- early bird tix - $25 per day! The Weekend Pass is actually higher than buying separate day passes and they don't have the VIP and Camping packages up yet either.

I have a 4 day ticket to the Grey Fox Bluegrass festival in Oak Hill, NY that starts tomorrow. I can't go because my wife recently had hip replacement surgery. If you would like this ticket, please send me a pm.

Thanks, Dan

This is Floydfest weekend at mile marker 170.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I will be heading over there in the morning and will be camping at Rocky Knob campground just a few miles from the festival.

Come on over if you are a music lover.

I saw your band SOJA and they do indeed put on a great show. They are a great band.

The whole weekend was great with non-stop music on about 12 differant stages from 9:00 am to 2:00 am.

Sunday was the very best. It started with the Rogues, a celtic band, that was very entertaining, then Steep Canyon Rangers, Sam Bush, Ricky Skaggs, Bruce Hornsby and finally Allison Kraus. Wow!

Outstanding! I'm glad you got to see them. I've seen them a dozen or so times over the past 4 years and each time has been amazing, but also different. I even saw them in back to back nights once in different cities and they changed it up even overnight.

Sounds like you had a great time. The Blackwater Music Festival in the FL panhandle is coming up in the spring and some of the same bands you saw will be playing there. A good time for sure.

Nope, but I'll be there for a wedding next weekend. If you haven't checked out JJ Grey, he's great and his voice will fill the area, no matter how big. Great singer and songwriter.
