Crawfish Festival 2010

Just wanted to being a new thread about the rally I will be hosting in 2010. The dates for this "Joint Buddy Trailer Gathering" will be June 4,5, and 6 2010. The location is Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta New Jersey. This rally will be in conjunction with the Michael Arnone's Crawfish Fest in Augusta, NJ. June 4,5 and 6th,2010. This is the 21st year this music and food festival has been held. As with last year, a full breakfast will be served by yours truly. Killed happy hours will spontaneously be held all day, everyday. Be sure to buy your tickets early and get the special pricing.

We'll be there

We'll be there.... "God willing and the creek don't rise".

Love the idea and had a great time this past Crawfish. Already thinking about what to bring and making a "standard"/pole that is decorated for marking our area of the lawn. We also started checking out appetizers NOLA style. We'll be practicing over the winter so that we are ready to roll.

Elaine and I are definitely IN. We need to find out what Helen Byam Schwamborn's favorite cocktail is since Frank only clued us in to Wally's favorite cocktail.

We are also looking forward to a year's worth of fun and witty repartee' in this thread.

We live too far away to attend your rally, but...

Anytime we go to the mountain lakes, it's a Crawfish Festival for us. I put a few traps out over night and in the morning we had a bunch!

Working on the Baked Stuffed Oyster Recipe. With a little luck and if I'm real good "she" may allow the deep fryer to join the fun.

Hey ya'll I learned to eat crawfish while living in Biloxi, MS and going to their festival. Do you all boil them in real spicy boil mix and suck the heads, too? I love it cooked Cajun style, though I'm not big on sucking the heads out.

Greywolf, I think a road trip from Florida is needed to find out. Put those dates on the calendar and come find out if they are spicy or not. I think some suck dem heads and some just eat the tail. You should come on up next June 4-6th and find out.

I hear you on that, it'd be nice to go to the east coast again.
I grew up in Iowa and my wife was from Los Angeles and when we moved to Biloxi is when I first learned about eating crawfish. Prior to that, I only used them for fish bait. I told my wife before we went to the crawfish festival that there were a lot of poor people in the deep south and even though they had resorted to eating their fish bait, I wanted to check this out. After eating my first one, I told I'd forget about using these things for catching fish, I'd rather eat these instead of the fish anyways. We learned about a new culture and that crawfish just aren't for bait! We also know a little about eating lobster from when we lived in Maine!

I sure would like to come up. I'lll bring some cajun boil mix with me just in case you all don't cook them spicy! I know how up there you all consider Katchup to be spicy!

I don't think the spice will be needed. You see Wild Bill has been doing this since 1989 at this festival.

I think he has pretty much down to a science. I am not sure it is even possible to buy them live at the festival. But you and your wife should come and join us for the fun.

Tickets go on sale October 15 and we are going to be in Camp Madisonville again. Just a reminder for new comers, you need a camping ticket and festival tickets. This is not a cheap event, but it is worth every penny you pay. Plan on arriving friday midday and staying through monday morning.
