Carolina Balloonfest
As we were driving up to the Boone area Monday and passing through Statesville, I saw a billboard for the Carolina Balloonfest. They say it is the second oldest and second largest balloon festival in the U.S. This year there are supposed to be over 50 balloons. It runs from Friday October 16th through Sunday October 18th. They have limited onsite RV parking (no hookups). We have secured a spot for Saturday and Sunday. When I checked yesterday there were 7 of 25 spots left and I got one of them, at least for Saturday night. If no spots available, there are campgrounds in the area and there is on-site parking and off-site parking with shuttle service available. If anyone decides to come, look us up in the RV parking area.

The local piedmont chapter of WBCCI did a rally there last year.. here are some picture of the event.

looks like a neat thing to do.. sort of a warm up for Albuquerque balloon fest or warm down, not sure which is first or second..

We may be interested in attending this (in 2016), Al & Missy who did you contact? Phone? This is week before Alumalina in Cleveland SC and we are attending that.

Just go to 2015 Carolina BalloonFest Hot Air Balloon Festival - Home. The dates for 2016 are posted as 10/21-10/23, 2016 as text in a picture at the top of the page, but when I followed the link the picture didn't show up on my iPad. Google it if it doesn't show up from the link.

sounds like you made it last year.. bet it was cool. No info on how much the RV deal is the website.. do you have info you can share on that front. cost, location, etc.. thanks and happy thanksgiving
