Caravan - Any Interest ?

TAC Rules- No Rules - OPEN to ALL
COME & GO AS YOU PLEASE

Dates: Saturday, Aug 20 end Sunday a.m. August 28, 2011.

Itiniary: Depart Las Vegas, NV Sat a.m. to Page, AZ 280 mi. three nights at Wahweap C.G.

Depart Page, AZ, Tuesday Aug 23 a.m. to Torrey, UT. 255 mi. two nights.

Depart Torrey, UT, Thursday Aug 25 a.m. to Moab, UT 160 mi. three nights.

I have been to the RV Park in Las Vegas, Wahweap C.G. and to two parks in Moab. The KOA (seven miles south of town) and Canyonlands Park in town. This park is very tight as far as parking goes. I'm thinking about Riverside Oasis RV Park in Moab. Someone chime in if you have a better idea. As for Torrey I have no knowledge of the RV parks. Need advice.

NO KITTY FEE. You make your own reservations. Various attractions are available, you control your own expenditures.

Let's make that an itinerary instead of an itiniary.

Plenty of interest, just not feasible. Andrea and I are dreaming of the time that we get to go out west with the kids and tour around for a few weeks. But for now, it's a no-go. Kids are too young to appreciate it.

Good luck with this. Us east-coasters are jealous.

I'm fortunately retired but my wife is still working full time so caravanning is not yet part of our lifestyle. Once we are both on the same schedule I think I would like to try as long as it's a TAC event. No rules, just fun!

Jason & John

Jason; I understand about the young ones. We had four children in seven years. Our starter camper was an Apache tent camper (we used it for 13 years). In 1976 I was to be demoted in rank because of layoffs in the PD. So I took 30 days vacation and we headed out from Detroit to Calif. Many stops along the way to take in this beautiful country. The kids, 15 to 8 yrs were mostly worried if the next CG would have a pool.

John; My wife and I solved the problem of retirement - we both retired on the same day. In addition, I informed children and grandchildren that grandma will only baby sit in a pinch, no steady everyday job for her. They all understood my position and every one is happy.

If only... I dream of doing a Caravan but our plans are for Yellowstone at that time. It would be really nice if we could really get one going one day.

How about planning now, for a small Caravan terminating at the Mothership for next year? Pleanty of time to plan in advance, not to aggressive, meet at Mother ship perhaps, hit each shore and return to Mothership with enough planning it would be fun - not to exceede two weeks so more folks can attend?

John how about planning a caravan for the Tacsters out west to coincide with arriving at the mother ship for Alumapalooza.

Nicki, JFScheck and Wasagachris

Nicki; we could kick around some ideas for next year. We have no graduations to attend in 2012. Only a week w/son and family in July 2012.

JF and Wasagachris; I'm reluctant to plan a long caravan because of fuel costs. I seriously considered Alumapalooza and the Bash for this year but I was looking at almost $2000.00 in fuel alone. We did a straight shot to Indy in the car, 30 mpg as opposed to the truck/Airstream 11 mpg.

It looks like this one isn't going to attract many takers. Perhaps scheduling different stops etc. Maybe potential caravaners want a kitty fee and all reservations made in advance. Any of you caravan leaders who care to put .02 in let me know.

Caravan - Any Interest ? CANCELLED

This proposed caravan never got off the ground. I'm cancelling it. We had to make a decision regarding plans for the week listed. Maybe some day down the road it might work out.

We are talking about the original dates right. I am still interested in doing a caravan.

Nicki; we can do the same week of August 2012 no problem. It is 1100 miles from Las Vegas, NV to OK City, OK and 988 miles from OKC to Page, AZ. If you want to save some miles we can rendezvous at Page then caravan to Torrey and Moab, UT. Even if it is just the two trailers we can do it. Sometime between now and next August my wife and I will scout Torrey UT and find an RV park. I've camped at Wahweap (Page) and Moab.

We can post it for the masses and see if there are any joiners.

Charlie -
we are no longer in OKC. We are traveling right now.. I guess I need to change my location. Thanks for reminding me.

I'd love to see if anyone is interested in a TAC Caravan.
