Has the pandemic ended yet? Until it does, everything involving social gatherings is up in the air.

I am certain that the organizers will follow all guidelines in force by Ohio and Shelby County. Also know that much is ahead of us before next September. We will be there and be happy to park you! Sign up.

So, Matt (and Brett), if we get there too early, as a volunteer, would I be expected to help on parking? I had hoped to park my butt and do the sound! Will help any way I can!
Looking forward to helping out, and will enjoy being with the always amazing group of attendees (and trailers), greeting newish friends, and making new friends. Had so much fun playing guitar and bass with the other musicians!

I just signed up for this year's Alumapalooza event! Factory field this time.
Anyone else going? We are looking forward to a "normal" event this year.
Thank God for vaccines!

I know I will get flack for even posting this...I am prepared for that.
My wife and I have had Alumapalooza on our bucket list for some time. For years, it wasn't feasible because the Bambi II was under construction. Now it is ready, but our busy family schedule has gotten in the way.
We thought this was our year. Attend an Alumapalooza event before the girls enter middle school and get even busier. We thought it used to be held near the beginning of summer (June?). Now I see it has been moved to September...right at the beginning of the school year for young families...not a good time to pull the kids. A barrier to young families who wish to attend.
Well, OK. It is a learning event in itself. American manufacturing at its finest. Some good history lessons. We can swing that...just leave a day later; miss some of the event, but less school.
So I did a dry run through the registration pages just to get a feel for costs. $515 for two adults, two (free) kids, no t-shirts ordered, and no BBQ chicken lunches. Just a 3-amp electric/water site for four people. Hmmm.
I have attended several Airstream Factory Rallies (starting with the first one in 1980). I enjoyed the atmosphere as a young kid...the tours, entertainment, parades, bike rides to the youth activity center and community pool in the heart of JC. I have very fond memories of these rallies and hope(d) to someday share them with my own children.
I know there are lots of costs involved in hosting a rally. I have seen it/done it first hand. But I am in the middle of another Airstream renovation, and $515 will be a big chip-away on the cost of a new fridge. It's all about priorities and choices.
Can I afford this rally? Yes.
Do I feel the cost and the calendar timing of the rally make attending it a fairly unrealistic goal for a typical young family? Definitely.
Mom and Dad took us to many rallies at the Factory as already mentioned, and also to those offered by WBCCI in the 1970s/80s/90s. But they could not attend many of the ones they wanted to for the same reasons I mention above. Seems the Airstream lifestyle was never really mindful of the typical American family.
