2 Caravan Invitations in a week!!!!
What a week.....I think Uncle Wally must be smiling down on me and my Airstream!!
Last Monday I received an email from the Wagon Master of the Airstream Alaska Caravan saying they had a cancellation and I was next on the wait list. They gave me 24 hours to answer and 15 days to pay the fee if going.
The next day while responding to them, a second email arrived from the SMART Club (Special Military Active Recreational Travelers) with an invitation to go with them on the Canadian Maritime Provinces Caravan which had similar time restraints.
Needless to say both of these are trips of a lifetime but I had to turn both down. This summer I was already obligated to a 6 week trip in New England and going to the Airstream International Rally in Maine. Also with diesel close to $6 a gallon already, driving 9000 miles to Alaska or 4000 miles around Canada just does not make much sense right now.
While thrilled they ask me to go, guess these will have to stay on my travel bucket list for now.
