13th Annual Airbiscuit Anniversary Rally & Chili Cookoff

Sept 21-24, 2023

This is the 13th year (HOLY COW) it will be taking place!!!! Come join us for some fun, food, laughter, and some friendly competition! Thursday we plan to check out some local food (cough cough wine) establishments! Then Friday as folks roll in, dinner we will provide hot dogs and beans along with some other yummy dishes with a roaring campfire. The most fun is always Saturday when we have the Chili Cook off where the winner gets to take home the traveling airstream trophy and we hold our rally raffle right after!

When you arrive you will receive a goodie bag/folder with local attractions, a wondering wino/distillery tour to check out at your leisure (if you are doing this, you are welcome to see me upon arrival for a DD number just in case) and some other goodies! We will also throw in the updated final schedule that we loosely stick to! We also will have a driving map/directions for a covered bridge tour and some other local things to partake in!

Main events and gatherings will happen around site 88. Bring a chair and your table service to all food and social gatherings!

Please keep in mind this is a small park so sites will fill up fast, if you find you are unable to secure a site, please reach out to me and I will see if we can get you a site. If you have to cancel last minute, please contact me before you cancel! Thanks!

CHILI COOKOFF RULES – Iron Chef Style
Rules?! DO we realllllly need rules? Some lets say just need boundaries.


TURN IN: Saturday Sept 23, 5:30pm. We need time to label and organize in order to start sending out samples. PLEASE be prompt. The first round of samples leaves at 5:45pm sharp so if yours is not on the designated table by that time, it will not be included!
Look for the flag as to which site to turn in your pot of goodness! We will provide serving utensils for each slow cooker/crock pot/serving dish.

Please bring your best chili in a slow cooker, dutch oven or some other device that will keep your chili hot and ready to serve. We encourage a variety - meatless, spicy, white, or surprise ingredient! If it spicy, please let us know when you turn it in, so we can mark it as such when folks are taste testing!

Some ideas of years past that have been turned in:
Meat (Beef, Chicken, Pork, Wild Game)
Meatless
White
Spicy
With Beans/No Beans


Winner Winner Chili Dinner!!
We vote by secret ballot. Everyone who shows up to the general area gets one ballot to vote with. The chili with the most votes is the trophy winner! That means they get the privilege and bragging rights to take trophy traveling, add their name to it, and then return next year to pass it on or defend their title!

Once you have found your site and are settled in, make your way over to pick up your rally info! If no one is present, there will be a tote by the door with the rally info inside including the final itinerary and site information for events!

If you are coming, please be sure to let Loren know so she can have an accurate headcount for goody bags!

Payment for your site fee will be made directly to the campground.

No rally fee however a raffle and a 50/50 raffle will be held to help cover some of the costs for the rally. Optional sightseeing attractions may have a charge.

The Sooner the better since this is a small campground. Reservations opened March 20, 2023!

Thursday:
Early arrivals are welcome to join us around the fire, no planned activities. Those who would like to join us, bring your dinner and chairs and lets eat together!
After lunch: Scenic trips/Crafting/Napping 
Plan a trip around the area or bring your crafty talents and join us for some sewing, crocheting, and other crafty things! Need help with a repair or questioning something on your airstream? Check in with the group and see if someone can lend a hand or help problem solve!
6:00pm: Dinner! Bring down your dinner or dessert and join us for the evening!

Friday: -
8:30-10am: Breakfast on the griddle! (Look for the flag to designate which site will be hosting breakfast!) Bring whatever you want to eat and have a master chef cook it for you while you relax!
Anytime: We will not be doing an organized "trailer crawl" due to weather being questionable. So get out and meet your neighbors and check out their rigs!
After lunch: Scenic trips/Crafting/Napping 
Plan a trip around the area or bring your crafty talents and join us for some crafty things. Need help with a repair or questioning something on your airstream? Check in with the group and see if someone can lend a hand or help problem solve!
6:00pm: Bring a dish to share and join us for hotdogs (provided) & baked beans! We will have a fire roaring and waiting as you roll in! (weather permitting) We will have marshmallows and s’mores makings available for those who wish to partake if the weather allows us a cooking fire!

Saturday: -
8:30-10am: Breakfast on the griddle! Bring what you want cooked by the official chefs!

Check in with the group and see if someone can lend a hand or help problem solve! Interested in checking out what one of the other trailers looks like? Go take a peek! Now is a great time to do that!
5:00pm: All raffle items should be turned in by this time and ticket sales will begin.
5:30pm: Chili turn in LOOK FOR THE TURN IN FLAG (Please be prompt!)
5:45pm: Judging opens up LOOK FOR THE FLAG. Come join us for a group picture. Everyone is welcome to taste test & judge then vote for their favorite! (Bring your chairs, bowls, and spoons!)
Contestants will drop off their pots by 5:30pm at the designated location. Then haul your chairs to the general area with your place settings. Assistants will deliver a 1-2oz sample of each chili in a numbered cup and tray to the general area along with a ballot sheet and pen. Everyone will fill out a ballot sheet and turn them into the designated vessel on the food table or to a designated ballot collector. While everyone is voting, all chili will be moved to the general area. Ballots will be counted, and top 3 finishers will be announced with trophy presentation. After voting (6ish) Everyone digs in to which ever chili was their favorite or feel free to make a combination to fill your belly!
6pm: Bring your own bowl and accouterments and join us for a chili dinner!
6:30pmish: Winning tickets pulled for raffle or 50/50 with whatever overage of cash being raffled off at the end!  (Raffle is done instead of a rally fee. Please consider donating!)
Presentation of contest awards (pumpkin carving, best decorated site, 1st place chili (if not already announced!)
6:45pm: Fire

Sunday:
9-10am: Breakfast Chat - Bring your coffee down for one last hurrah before we all depart!
1pm: Departure

Sorry ran out of room in the title and it wont let me edit the original post. I do have the info as to where all over the post though and in the calendar Geneva State Park in North East Ohio.
