WDCU Capitol Kickoff Rally - April 28-May 1, 2011

Hi everyone! We are busy planning the Capitol Kickoff Rally for April 28-May 1, 2011.

Camping details:

We have reserved a number of campsites at the Capitol KOA campground. This campground is conveniently located near Baltimore, DC, and Annapolis, and is nicely wooded and shaded. They have a pavilion for us to use.

Full hookup, 30 amp: $52.20/night
Full hookup, 30/50 amp: $60.30/night

Capitol KOA
768 Cecil Avenue North
Millersville, MD 21108
(410) 923-2771, 1-800-562-0248

To book your site at the group rate, tell them "WDCU Airstream." If that doesn't work, the sites are booked in my name ("RJ Marquette"), though you'll pay the campground directly. The campground has closed for the season, and will reopen March 1, but they have a service that will allow you to make reservations over the winter.

The registration form will be available in a couple days.

I have an entry for it on the rally calendar here.

About the rally:

We are planning a catered dinner, a potluck dinner, and some other food goodies. There will be games and lots of fun times. And don't forget Happy Hour!

Of course, the campground is close to Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; and Annapolis, MD, and there are always things to do, even if it's just walking around Inner Harbor, the National Mall, or downtown Annapolis. Some events:
We hope to see you all there!

Okay, so I didn't give my email address above. Just drop me a PM on here if you don't mind. (I'll have the registration form in the next few days, I promise.)

Hi everyone! Less than two months to go to the rally. Just a reminder to get the registrations in ASAP.

Only six weeks to the CKR.

I stopped by the Capitol KOA today to check it out and the office staff said we already have twenty sites registered. If you were thinking of attending this rally why not go ahead and make you reservation? It's gonna be fun!

I have a question. Is this a WBCCI rally or is it just the fine friendly folks at the WDCU having this? Are non members invited is what I am getting at. I know the park is open to all, but the rally, is it open to anyone is what I am asking.

20 sites is great! I note, however, we only have 13 registration forms! Hmmmmmmm.... Send in those forms please!

Hi, Frank! The rally is a WBCCI rally and it is not a buddy rally.

Hi Frank,

I have camped with you when you were a WBCCI and WDCU member and when you were not. You don't need to belong to a club to go camping and run into some friends

Nice reply Sonia.

As an aside Frank, the Watchung NJ Unit is hosting a buddy rally the same weekend at Pine Hill CG just west of Allentown PA. Any RV'er is most welcome to join in our Unit's fun that weekend.

See...http://watchungunit.org/April2011-coupon.pdf

The Watchung Unit's buddy rallies are traditionally our April and August events.

Dave,

On our rally list, we forgot to identify the "buddy" rallies early on, so CKR was one of the ones that was missed. But as you know, we welcome anyone to our rallies! We like to eat, drink and have fun!

And I do miss some of Frank's creations for Happy Hours!

BTW, th Installation rally, which will be in Jim Thorpe, beautiful Poconos, is a buddy rally.

Yeh I am in the same boat, it is a public campground. It is not as if you are showing up to something that is on someones yard. Come, drink and be merry (or John) whatever you choose. The only thing would be an organized meal, if any, but no loss IMO. It is all about the Happy Hour!!!!

I am surprised to learn that it is not a buddy rally this year. It is a shame but such is life.

Nick,

It was on oversight! sorry! But we would love to see you two (2.5) at CKR! I bet you Jill looks good with a big tummy

Ans like you said, the Happy Hours are much better than the planned dinners.

It's just as well. I will be coming back from a 12 day trip just before this rally. I thought it a chance to see some of the DCU people I have not seen in a while. Even though I could hang out in the same campground and it is all about happy hour, I think it would be down right weird to not be a part of things. I will take a pass. Good luck have fun.

Sonia,

There is nothing to apologize for. We are members and are attending. I completely understand that things happen and appreciate all you guys doing all the work. All I meant about "it being a shame" was that CBR was a good opportunity for non-members to see the WDCU and I just assumed CKR would be as well. I forget about the paperwork aspect with WBCCI.

Sorry again if it came across wrong. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

It will be nice seeing you Deborah. This warm weather is making me wish that CKR was already here! I can't wait to go camping again.

Well, we're about a month away! This is a great campground, and a great location, with convenient access to Baltimore, DC, and Annapolis. Come out and have fun with us!

A Few Reasons to Attend a WDCU Rally

We still have a few sites available, so if you considering attending why not go ahead and sign up. We always try our best to have a good time.

Here is a short video with a few reasons why you might want to think about attending one of the WDCU rallies this year.

If you’re in the area and want to stop by for “Happy Hour” or you just want to chat and socialize with the group you’ll be more than welcome. If you’re not a member, remember, any campground where the WDCU goes, you can always park with your own reservations a few spots down the row..........
We seem to attract other Airstreamers when we get together for fun.
