Obie is the only clown that does not need make up. He can twist a balloon into an accordian and play a tune on it for you. Not to long ago his trailer was in an accident and instead of getting a new one he just made his own out of balloons. Okay enough joking around even though some is true....
Obie is one of the many faces of the WBCCI you will come to love. If he does not crack you up at least once during CBR you know you have left your humor at home.

It's right around the corner!

I'm stoked! I'll start heading towards Roger's Farm a week on the 29th. I hear the CBR has a full house this year.

Still working out the last kinks in a new FW tank installation and I'm hoping everything will be good to go. Now I'm praying for an easy work week on nights with lots of call room sleepy time. I need the daylight hours for things other than sleep.

Hey Atobols, welcome to the craziness. You won't be "newbies" for long!

Cbr cbr cbr

OK Here's the plan. It's cold, wet and Crappy outside. I'm headed to Jackson Center - leaving tomorrow, having service done Tuesday. I'll be visiting my sister and niece & family Sunday & Monday in NE Ohio. I'll Leave the factory at OH DARK 30 on Wednesday and should arrive Wednesday night or Thursday morning at CBR.

I'm making meatloaf for the pot luck Friday - it's my most tested recipe - but I may try dutch ovening part of the batch.

Paula

getting the rig ready for cbr

I've been busy for the past week getting my '64 Trade Wind ready - last weekend - minor dent repair, new city water feed plumbing work. new kitchen counter, sink, faucet. this past week a new atwood water heater went in replacing the old bowen. yes, i was able to salvage the old cover and stack.

i am getting ready to go out to the rig this morning and hang sheets of aluminum wall covering for the galley area. also need to finish trim work from the new floor install from a while back. after these last couple of projects the old '64 will be ready to roll to Rogers Farm.

Rallies do make good deadlines to get stuff done.

Maybe you can give me a few pointers. My DO and Volcano stove always travel with me camping.

It's mildly warm and crappy wet in Tennessee. But the birds are singing, the dogwood and redbud are blooming, and the grass is spring green.

No time to polish or even wash the Tradewind this year but it is otherwise ready to go complete with a new FW holding tank. I'll pack the truck this evening and hitch it all up. Sunday morning I'm outa here! I'll see some of you Wednesday at Great Falls to caravan through DC.

This is going to be so cool!

I was hoping to get the carpet out and new tile floor in before the CBR, but that won't be happening. I did get a new set of shocks a couple weeks ago, though. Also I need to look at my furnace tomorrow to see if I can stop the squealing...

repair seminar anyone?

The experimental weekend of hooking up the Overlander was a bust. Found out we have three water leaks, a sorta functioning fridge on gas, and a blowing electrical circuit (12V). So, today I purchased some repair items and "went at it". One water leak fixed. Found the electrical gremlin...oven light positive wire was worn and grounding against the frame of the oven. I managed to smell gas back by the water heater, some soapy water revealed that this was a leak at the inlet to the regulator / thermostat / whatever you want to call it. Could the fittings turn off nicely? Heck no. The whole pipe wanted to twist. So, I hacked the pipe off, got the fittings out. I will be buying a flaring tool and a couple new fittings tomorrow. We noticed gushing of water from the rear curbside of the trailer...yeah freaky, huh? No drain dumps there, no orifices, no hoses...oh $hit...only water lines inside. Well, Andrea tore apart the facade around the tub and with a flashlight we were able to see the wonderful sight of a copper pipe with a nice 1/2" long slit in the top of it. Clearly a burst. So, we moved some things further out of the way and started cutting. So, tomorrow the folks at Lowe's get to see me again at lunchtime where I will be buying a handful of fittings, some PEX, and some PEX to copper unions. Plus a couple fittings for the water heater gas line. What does all this mean? Well, I think we'll be at CBR with water, heat, a fridge that constantly snaps its igniter, and no gas leaks. Oh, and I might have an International wall oven for sale in the flea market! 1/2 the price will be helping me to remove it!

it nice to know I am not the only one scrambling to make the rig ready for CBR. this weekend i finished the galley walls. airpartsinc.com came through with beautifully polished sheets in time for a saturday install.

tonight i installed a new door knob and finished the entryway flooring transition. knob is working great. hope the floor transition holds up for the long haul.

tomorrow night is food shopping - three happy hour dishes and the friday pot-luck...deep fried tater tots. dipping sauce and drink concoction contests...the pressure! i'll be on the road 48 hours short hours from now. thankfully the rig's progress is where i hoped it would be for this event.

I too must say that I am comforted to hear that the experience ones have issues starting out for the first time of the year. I have been racking my mind and back to get everything set, only to find the frig does not cool and the last rain flooded the inside. Had to tear out the antenna and do a repair patch until the alclad comes. I cant wait to meet everyone. This is our maiden voyage ever in a travel trailer. I can not think of a better place to do a test run. Not sure how long we will sit in traffic on Friday so we may or may not make it to Potluck. Plan on bringing dessert so if we are late.

Drive safe everyone.

Frank,

I already used (D) today so that I could fix the leaks and deal with the last minute things. I guess you will just have to stay up and have a beer when I get there. They will be ice cold in the coolers, instead of the frig.

Just what the Doctor ordered

Dearest CBR participants,

Please take pity upon us poor slobs who are unable to join in on your revelry and post many, many pictures. My cabin fever is at a critical level right now. If I cannot live vicariously through you all I will go mad.

Thank you,
A very jealous mistral blue

Jason has asked me to let everyone know that we cannot make it to the CBR this year. The repairs have not gone well and we are no farther than we were last night. The gas and water lines still aren't connected and it doesn't look like they will be anytime soon. We're really disappointed and we were looking forward to meeting everyone.
