Unfortunately, Paul Mayoux and his wife are insurance adjusters and they have been called to Alabama due to the tornadoes. Pat McDowell will extend his exterior rescue into Paul's time and include some interior rescue material.
The solar seminar will be replaced with history of Airstream trailers 1931 - 1968, based on material from vintage historian Fred Coldwell.
We are looking for additional presenters. Anyone coming with solar experience, we can work you in
We apologize for the changes, but we had no way of predicting this.

Pat McDowell is going to use some of Paul's vacated time, so there here will be some time available at the end of that session. Could you describe your equipment and experience with solar and, perhaps, lead a discussion session in that time?

John, I was really wanting to just hang out and be a spectator this week!!!
I would be more than happy to show my setup and talk about my experiences "good and bad things that work or don't work, equipment, etc", but wasn't wanting to formally do a presentation or seminar....

I never could find it. I had Jeanne send me the scheldule. The main class we would of been interested in was woodworking. We would of had to drive all evening to get to Glen rose after work, then get up early to catch that wood working seminar. The other ones interesting were cancelled, the swap and open house are on Sunday when we need to get driving back. Maybe next year the timing will be more appropriate for us working-non-retired folk. Really disapointed. Wanted to see the open house to get ideas.

That would be just fine. Thanks. I'll see where I can schedule that.

We can do this
Paul will be missed! However, lets fill in the blanks with our own experience
on our Vintage Airstreams.
A demo on the correct way to live with a Zip Dee awning.
A demo on changing a tire on a dual axle rig. Conversely, a demo on how to find the "real" jack points on your Airstream.
A hands on demo on working with PEX. (We need to find a dealer to give us some materials so we can really work with the tool.)
How to plumb a fresh water system. (This has always had my attention.)
Hands on sealing seams.
Safety.
First Aid kits for the Airstream.
Painting the tongue and bumpers with POR....
Jerbear....your open house visit is no problem.....everyone here is essentially wide open for a visit all the time. You can even get a free meal or a cold one most of the time.

Being a new AS owner and going to our first rally, all of the above would be excellent!

I have a few years of Airstreaming under my belt and I am available at any time if you want to discuss such things as jacking, awning use, hitches, etc. Just look for 9632.
Every new A/S owner especially should attend my Great Ideas seminar. Lots of ideas getting the most from your A/S.
Rich Luhr, editor of Airstream Life magazine just published a book for new A/S owners. I understand that the factory is quite impressed with it and will be selling it in the store. You can find the Airstream Life site on line.

Sorry for jumping in here. I am looking for a way to find out if anyone at the Texas Vintage Rally would be interested in a Coleman Mach air conditioner. I replaced mine and have the old unit. Is there a proper place to post this message.

Counting down
The waiting and planning is about over.
In a plane, it is "wheels up", but on an Airstream, I guess it must be "jacks up." Jacks up for us will be at 10 tomorrow morning. With a brief pause to hose off the trailer in Hamilton and grab lunch, we should be in Glen Rose by about 2:30

All over
We had 70 rigs on site, over 30% of them were vintage.
There were torrential rains Wednesday afternoon when I arrived, but after a long drought, the ground soaked up the standing water really fast. The rest of the weekend was a bit breezy, but sunny and great temperature. It was cool enough at night that the heat pump came on.

Well Done John
Anxious for more reports.
Hopefully pics and maybe a listing of who attended.
[at least those that are a member here anyway].
Was that 5:2 (new to vintage) ratio about like in years past?
I would have guessed more vintage than 21 out of 70.
Glad yall had the mild weather. My rule of thumb is that from May 15 to October 15 Central, South, & East Texas is hotter n'hell and unfit for many outdoor pleasures.
This year that was about 4 days off to the good.
What was the buzz about which area that repeat attendees liked best regards to this and former vintage rally sites? (Zavalla, Montgomery, San Antonio,) By the way how many attendees were first timers?
Hope someone will put San Marcos or Marble Falls, or Lake Buchannan area on the "see about & consider" list for next year.
Wish I could have been there.
