Silver in the City....York, SC

We are excited to be announcing and hosting the 5th annual ''Silver in the City" downtown rally in our hometown of York, SC, population 8500.

Come join us April 21-24, 2022, for this unique event as we wake up on main street. We will park on both sides of Congress Street (our main street) and in 2 parking lots located on Congress St.

We are especially excited this year as the city will close Congress Street to motor traffic from our arrival on Friday morning until Sunday 12 pm. This will allow us to park on the opposite sides of the street, allowing awnings to be opened to the center of the street, creating a silver lined pedestrian avenue.

This is a boondocking rally so please arrive with empty grey and black tanks, full freshwater tank, and ample propane. Quiet generators are always welcome.

Parking is fast and easy, we will assist. You may park curb side on Congress Street or in one of the parking lots. No need to unhitch at either location unless you want to.

We will have a dump station for Sunday departure.

There is no rally fee, though we hope you will make a generous donation to P.A.T.H. People Attempting To Help. This is a multi-church supported outreach organization in our community and a very worthy cause. Last year we raised and donated $6,000.

There are minimal planned activities, we encourage everyone to parooze our town, and enjoy and support the local shops, eateries, and watering holes.... all at your doorstep.

THURSDAY afternoon we rendezvous 3 blocks from downtown at YORK PLACE CAMPUS, 234 Kings Mountain Street, York SC. We overnight here, with no facilities but a fabulous venue. We will furnish Pizza for supper.

FRIDAY morning start your day with fresh coffee and a pastry. Then, at 9am we parade into town, with Police escort, through our historic district, down Congress Street, then to the 2 staging areas, where we stage the parking.

SATURDAY we will have a voluntary Open House from 1-4 so the locals can take a look inside our iconic trailers and motorhomes. Participate only if you want to.

The "official kick off" will be 5pm Friday.

Our little town is so excited that we are returning for the 5th time (Covid got #3) and will have the red carpet rolled out.

Come celebrate with us in small town/main street America.

We request a note here if you will be joining us. There are already 45 rigs registered, we have room for more.

You will like it.

John and Terry....at it again!

Silver in the City

We're making plans to be there. As long as the inlaws (90 yrs old) are looked after we should make it. If there's a problem we'll be in touch.

Hi John,

From Alumalina last year to Silver in the City this year. We're going to wander down from the cold State of New Hampshire.

We'll add another S/O to the group...can't leave Gary & Linda alone.

Please add Skip and Barbara. We had planned to leave Vermont on April 18 and head South anyway. This seems like a great time. If we have any glitches we will certainly let you know.

From last year, might show new folks a bit of what it is.

Starts by showing the staging area then the parade into York and a few still pics of the event.

Thanks....

...... GC for the ''slide show'' you are bringing and for the video of last year. Both fabulous. All we will need is more of the same great weather.

Our little city boasts one of the largest historical districts in SC, which means not only beautiful old homes, but also beautiful old Azealia's, massive trees, and other great stuff associated with springtime in the South.

And Skip.... ya know what we say down here in the South...."All the planning in the world will never replace dumb luck". Hope the luck holds for you and Barb and you can join us.

You will like it!

John

John Barlow and Imelda Hill will be driving all the way from Rock Hill, SC to join Silver in the City this year. We’d love to be on the street but happy to be in a lot, as well.

Just think, John.... had you driven west about 12 more miles, you might have settled here in York instead of Rock Hill and had the party in your front yard!!!

It's all good.
