SECU Carolina BalloonFest Rally

Carolina BalloonFest 2018 Rally
Statesville, NC October 19-21, 2018

I'm posting this as a central location for attendees to get and give information about the rally which was organized on the SECU Facebook page.

Note: This a dry camping rally. Please arrive with full water and empty holding tanks. Generator use has been OK in the past.

Arrival time - any time after noon on Friday, 10/19 for campsite access and setup

Festival Gates open at 3PM on 10/19

Campsites must be vacated by 7PM on 10/21

The latest schedule and other information can be found on the festival website at: http://www.carolinaballoonfest.com/

There were originally 30 "standard" sites available. "Premium" sites were for Class A's only. We have occupied 23 of the 30 standard sites.

There is no pavilion so any group get-togethers will have to be around the trailers. If you have a pop-up canopy or folding tables, please bring them. Unfortunately I forgot mine - I have never hosted a rally before so please bear with me.

Depending on what we find when we get there and weather, I'm going to suggest we get together for Happy Hours (an SECU tradition!) and maybe the following:

Friday Afternoon/Evening -

The launch window is 4:00 to 5:30
I'm going to tentatively suggest a Happy Hour that morphs into a potluck dinner, starting at 6:00 to allow for some time watching the last of the balloons to depart.

Saturday Morning
The launch window for the flyover is 8:00 to 9:30
I'll tentatively (again) suggest a Dutch Oven/Pot Luck breakfast at 7:30. IF it runs over, we would have a pretty good view of the launches from the camping area. I think Matt always carries his dutch oven and I do as well. If anyone else wishes to participate, the more the merrier. I expect we could use at least one more dutch oven for a total of three. Other contributions would, of course, be welcome.

Lunch open for food trucks or off-site

Saturday Evening
Afternoon Launch Window is 4:00-5:30
Glow Window is 6:30 to 7:30
I'll suggest Happy Hour 5:30 -6:30 and Potluck Dinner 7:30 until.....

Sunday Morning
The launch window for the flyover is 8:00 to 9:30
I'll tentatively (again) suggest a Pot Luck breakfast at 9:30.

I will follow this post with a signup sheet for the meals listed above. Interest expressed can determine whether we have joint meals or not.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and hope we have some nice, cool weather!

See you down the road real soon!

Al

Saturday Pot Luck Dinner:
Al and Missy - TBD

Thanks,

Al

The signup sheet has been moved to the SECU Facebook page. I have deleted it here to keep one list in one place.
