Pennwood Labor Day Rally
Wow! What a great time. Pennwood Airstream Park is an amazing place. I have never felt so welcome at a campground in all my life. We were greeted at the front of the park by a gentleman in his WBCCI uniform, complete with tie! He ushered us over to our site and helped guide us into position. They had a really neat yellow strap on the ground, and told me to back in a foot off of the strap. When I was in position the strap was removed. Slick idea! Sites had concrete patios, which was really nice. We were charged $15 a night which included HIGH pressure water, electric, sewer AND 54 channel cable TV.
Yukionna, (Nancy, photo below) Dan Glover, a family in an Airstream Cutter motor home from Mass. and a real nice family from Pittsburg, with a 70's Trade Wind also took part in our mini rally. We went on a road trip through Cook's Forest, and stopped at Clear Creek State Park for a picnic and other activities for the day on Sunday.
A great time was had by all. This will be a Labor Day to remember.

Yes, I agree with Pick -- a good time was had by all! There was also the traditional campfire with s'mores, fly fishing on a private pond (no license needed), and a "drive-in" movie showing the new "Two Towers" movie.

So Nancy, did you get your new tank installed?
What did you find out about that future panel replacement?

Our rig, second from left. The unit on the far right was a 1954 Caravanner, I believe.

Chuck, the black tank upgrade was installed successfully -- no more midnight dashes to the public restrooms!
The panel replacement is covered under warranty when I get around to bringing the Airstream back to Jackson Center. I am planning on having it worked on during the winter season -- one less toy to store in my yard this winter! So, it looks like we'll be traveling back to Penn Wood again this year.

Penn Wood celebrated their 30th birthday over Labor Day weekend. Here is the delicious cake someone made to commemorate the occasion!

Rally dinner at Penn Wood
The Pennsylvania Unit of WBCCI held a rally at Penn Wood over Labor Day weekend. Here is a photo of part of our crowd taking up two tables at dinner time. Everyone at the table, except the couple second from the end, are currently or were at one time New England Unit members.

We had a good time too. Even though we're not members of the WBCCI, we sure felt welcome and included in all the activities. Couldn't have met a nicer bunch of people. We were sad to see the weekend come to a close. Glad to see everybody made it home OK! We'll keep our eyes posted for future rallies. We definitely will make an effort to meet up with you all again.

Dano -- let me be the first to officially welcome you to the forum! We are honored that you chose this thread for your "coming out"!
Our trip home was uneventful but loooooong -- it took 14 hours! We did stop every 3 hours or so for gas (my distance capacity when towing is only 150 miles) and rain was also a factor.

Yikes! 14 hours?! did you hit alot of traffic, or something? I was looking on the map, and I figured it should be around half of that time to go that far. Even at that...that's still too long a drive for me, just for a long weekend.

Chuck, there were a multitude of factors that stretched what should have been an 8-hour drive into a 14-hour drive:
1) rain
2) coffee/gas/stretching breaks every 2-3 hours
3) traffic
4) stop at Flying J to buy a new CB
5) Krispy Kreme stop
6) lunch stop (Pam made grilled cheese sandwiches for everyone in her motorhome)
7) dinner stop (Pam made Tacos for everyone in her motorhome)
8) traffic accident on Rte 80 (1 hour delay)
9) traffic accident on Rte 84 (1/2 hour delay)

Great weekend
Hello everyone.. Marvin and I would like to say hello and glad to hear that everyone got home safely. Penwood was the last of our two week vacation and it was the hilight. We just decided to go on the Wed before the long weekend not knowing that there was to be a rally.. EVERYONE was so friendly and the people who look after the park are to be commended for the beautiful surroundings . We are looking forward to going there again next year. Would love to keep in touch with some of the New England unit.. We were the ones second from the end ... lol... Canucks.. well one Canuck and one transplanted West Virginian.. Well keep in touch.

Annie -- it was great meeting you and Marvin over the Labor Day weekend! We look forward to camping with you again. Please be sure to look us up if you are ever in the New England area.
