Wally Byam Birthday Party Rally, Baker City OR July 1 - 5, 2011
We have been invited to help celebrate Wally Byam’s birthday at the Baker Regional Museum in Baker City, Oregon. The Museum is opening a larger exhibit of Wally Byam and his Caravans and celebrating his Birthday the weekend of July 4th.

If you are unable to attend International join us for this Rally. We are planning Wally Byam activities, good food and fun. Along with enjoying the Wally Byam exhibit and the Museum all weekend long, we will be having caravan movies and slide shows, proposed presentations by notable
guests on caravans, restorations of Airstream trailers, and our own Janet Humphrey and her trio: Humphrey, Hartman and Cameron, providing entertainment.

Lots of things to do in the area with the Oregon Trail Museum. See wagon ruts from the wagon trains on the Oregon Trail, check out a rodeo in the neighboring town of Haines, or the giant flea market up the road in Sumpter. Maybe take a side trip to Hell’s canyon and ride a jet boat up the Snake river or just enjoy the historic town of Baker City.

We will have three camping areas to use so we have no limit on attendance. Full hook-up sites (sorry no cable) at the Oregon Trail RV Park (about 1⁄2 mile away). Dry Camping in the park next to the Museum for anyone wanting to be in the community Open House that will occur on July 4th. All over flow will be in the county fairgrounds about 2 blocks away from the park.

Cost of this 4 night Rally includes site, entrance to Museum all weekend, entertainment, 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners.

Full hook-up at the Oregon Trail RV Park-$159.00 Dry camp at Museum- $75.00 Dry camp in overflow-$70.00

Now that we own a couple of lovely, and quiet, Honda generators count us in for dry camping in the park adjacent to the Museum

I checked the weather history and they say the average temp is 82-85 with a high last year of 92 degrees. The campground has electric but the Museum park is boon-docking so if it gets hot we'll bring in the kiddy pools

. 2 air, you're always kool. also, we will have movies, and slide shows in the Air-conditioned Museum during the heat of the day.

yeah i just checked the historical temp stuff too...

low 80s over 40s is pretty darn good.

of course aluminum seems to create heat at these things.

is it even legal to have a regional wb' rally over the 4th?

last time this was done was the silver falls thing in 06? but that was a renegade rally.

staying right on the museum grounds would be KOOL 4 sure.

Take a look at google earth - there are trees in that park (but not at the fair grounds), might help with the heat a little.

Teresa - I will also have Michelle and Mary along, they will either have to tent it, borrow a trailer or maybe hole up in the hotel. Any suggestions?

Next to the museum will have some tree's and if it HOT we'll put out misters to sit under.

Just talked to Dale Schwamborn and he is planning to attend our Rally and give a talk along with a question & answer time.

He has given the Heritage Museum a truck load of Wally Byam and WBCCI artifacts, I can't wait to see everything. He has given me some ideas for rally food back in the day. Get out your 1950's cookbooks.
