OR 090 : OR Unit Rally: Paulina Lake July 14 - 17, 2011

Join us as we welcome the Sampling Oregon Caravan to the last stop of their 1,400+ mile journey. Resting inside the world-famous Newberry Crater, Paulina Lake was formed by ancient volcanic activity in the caldera of Mt. Newberry. It is a magnificent setting for this celebration.

Because there is so much to see & do in Central Oregon, the schedule for the rally will be light. Whether you want to fish, hike, ride your bike or explore Lava Land, there will be plenty to do. Just a short drive away, the city of Bend offers microbreweries (Deschutws, Crater Lake and Cascade) shopping and galleries.

The dining schedule for the rally will be:

Thursday evening: staying true to "Heath-form" Heavy Appetizers/Happy Hour

Friday: breakfast & lunch on your own, we will provide healthy snacks to fuel your activities for the day; Dinner - hosted Caravan Celebration dinner prepared by the Paulina Lake Lodge (no-host bar)

Saturday: Hosted breakfast; lunch on your own with more healthy snacks; dinner will be a special treat - Doug has offered to prepare his amazing grilled pizzas. For those of you who loved his cooking at Sutherlin...just wait, these pizzas are like none you've ever had before, so start dieting now. Bring your favorite cold salad or dessert to share.

Sunday: Light grab-n-go items for those of you ready to hit the road

I wish we could have made this rally. We are now at LaPine state park and yesterday we traveled up to Paulina and East lake and toured the campgrounds and volcanic features....it is a great area...looks like lots of fun....

Wow!! What a beautiful lake!!! and holy cow, where did all of those Mosquitos come from? They definitely had a field day chomping myself and fellow AS'ers. Dinner tonight at the lodge celebrating the end of the Sampling Oregon Caravan, and special treat tomorrow afternoon as the Crater Lake Vodka mobile tasting room ...a modified Airstream...rolls into camp for Happy Hour!!!
