We thought we could get away in time to hopefully arrive on the 31st. Life comes at you sometimes in ways you were not looking at and we can't get away now until mid January.

We so enjoyed last year. We are going to be so miserable here in the rain and cold while you are all sitting around the campfire swapping White Elephant gifts - wonder who'll get the prison trays this year, and the bug clock...........

We don't have to say have a great time, we know that you always do.

Hopefully we can make it to the February gathering.

Donna and Barry

Power source

Quick question. My husband is wondering if we should settle in on the loop that has power hook ups as we do not have a generator and he has a cpap machine he uses at night. We don't know for sure if it would work off the battery. Anyone know about this?

You would probably be better off staying up the hill where they do have 110V power. Quail loop is just a short distance away so you can be with the group for all of the festivities.

Does the cpap machine need 110V AC or will it run off 12 V DC? If only 110V, then you either need a generator or an inverter, that will run off the battery, and provide 110V AC. If running off of battery power, recharging becomes an important question. Something as simple as the furnace fan draws about 6 amp and can draw a battery(s) down if you need to run heat at night.

Pick the minds of the folks at Picacho and see what they do when boondocking.

I believe a friend of ours who needs a cpap machine is getting a 12v battery pack for it so he can run it through the night...then recharge the pack with a generator during the daytime. If you don't have this open set-up you'll probably want to be in the electric loop.

I don't know what type of CPAP your husband has, but if it's one of the ResMed machines, you may find the discussion at this link helpful:

http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=9828

Apparently you lose some functionality with the 12v adapters, so it really is best to run them on 110v power. They only draw ~2.5amps with either 12 or 110v input, so should not put much load on whichever power source you use. A small inverter should work fine if the CPAP is the only thing plugged into it.

The pressure is on.

We thought we had some really clever white elephant gifts but after reading about the prison trays and bug clock we realized we're going to have to step it up a notch. We didn't realize how classy this group really is.

You have no idea how classy this group can be! We have had everything from Bug Clocks and Weiner Dog Carriers to Flamino Ornaments. Be Creative and have fun finding something "Unique"

It will definitely be an evening of laughter!

Louis, Sergio:

Who's in possession of the "Weiner Dog Carrier" after we "upgraded" it for the Dead Horse Rally in 2010? Just curious...

We believe that we've got an interesting WE Gift for Picacho this year!

As I recall, its all about the "Packaging"!

Cheers,

A & M

Doesn't everyone use prison trays for plates?

What are we bringing? All I will say is that Liberace would be impressed and approve.

We are the proud owners of the dog carrier, after being "gifted" with it from Louis and Sergio. It will be receiving a further upgrade and will appear at a rally sometime . . . .

So far, Flat Richard has been omitted from the discussion and he is out and about.

Usens have something you can bank on for the exchange.

We still get a chuckle at Carolyn's "Prison Plates" comment. Everyone was wondering how that came to mind

Going to miss seeing all you folks this time around. Hoping we can make the February gathering.

Art, the wiener dog carrier ( at last exchange) was complete with a dog, that's I will say... It was faboulois!

One item I can assure you will not re appear is the animated Louis Armstrong, unfortunately he developed gangrene and he is no longer with us. It is unfortunate, but make room for something else animated... That is my only hint!

Louis never lets us down with his finds. Louie Armstrong was a classic piece and he was green. My favorite was the Barbi head and hands which Ron adopted a few years back.

We scored a pretty nice item at a garage sale this summer and we have been checking out the the thrift stores for another item to bring.

Hopefully some one will post pics of the more "memorable" gifts once the event is past. Those of us who wish like heck we could be there will be anxious to see who got what

Uh oh

Went out yesterday to drain water and generally go over the trailer as the temp had plummeted over the last few days.

Inside valves frozen. I found this out after opening the petcocks and less than the usual amount of water came out. Went inside and turned on the water in the kitchen sink to open up the water line to drain and the handle snapped loose from the regulator.

That's when I found out all the valves were frozen. Fired up the furnace and thawed it all out and opened the valves.

Thankfully it seems Uwe will be in the neighborhood tomorrow and he'll stop by and we'll go over everything to see how much damage we have.

Cross your fingers everyone...

Flat Richard will be in attendance.

Happily, the x-rated towels I unwrapped last year was stolen by our Texan friends. Unfortunately the Texans can't make it this year. Good thing the towels were stolen, otherwise, the x-rated towels would be in attendance also.
