Cool, no float tube though, which is probably a good idea. Got a fly rod, but have not caught one that way, plenty of strikes. Will bring fly and open reel rods and see what happens. Will be making red chili enchiladas and beans for added interest for the pot luck, but can make some great butterflied trout as well-T

Richard, we will be packing tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday morning. Any last minute needs? I think you asked for tables; I have a 6' plastic folding one that I am bringing. Are we set for firewood (can bring enough for one evening) and generators? What about an E-Zup?
Let us know

Float tubes are ok, but no wadeing. Shore fishing is just as good.

The table would be great, we should be good for wood not sure about generators. I know of several that will be on site, mine included. What is an E-Zup???

Space available?
30 silver bullets!!! Wow!
I sure hope there will be some space when my wife and I finally roll in around 1pm (????) Saturday. Kevbo, you be sure to tighten up ranks or we'll be parking up on the hill somewhere .
After teaching all week I'll be hardpressed to get out of Hemet much before 4pm and I suspect I can just barely make it to the free camping area about 5 miles west of Quartzite Friday night. I'll just have a beer and go to bed. Enjoy your M thingys. We'll have a nice breakfast Saturday morning and get on the road. Don't really have ANY idea how long it'll take to get to Cottonwood from there. We'll get there when we get there......
BTW, my wife plans on making her Mom's fabled spinach souffle for the potluck...hope she can make enough. It is by far the favorite veggie dish of our whole extended (both sides) family.
Looking forward (or is that eastward?) to this "really big shoe" of a rally.

The real count is 26. A few dropped off and did not remove their names from the list. A few on the list I never heard from once. I sent them numerous PM's and had no replies. I had to drop them before I paid for the site. We should have a few folks drop by for the day as well.
Quartzsite to Cottonwood is 225 miles. The speed limit on interstates in Arizona is 75 MPH except in the larger cities where it is less. I tow at around 65, that's my safe speed.
Out in that area of the state you can find a place to park and sleep at almost every exit. There are truck stops, rest areas and miles of desert.
We have a double load for the m-ball and I figure that we should have some left for Saturday before the pot luck. Take your time, stop if you are tired and get to Cottonwood safely!
You are all set for Saturday and Sunday nights at the area. I verified it with the rangers again this last weekend.

Richard,
An ez-up is one of those portable shade covers similar to a tent with no sides. Some models have screened sides.

We have one and plan to bring it, but most likely don't need it. The Ramada is covered and the weather is looking pretty good.

Hi, all,
Rosemary and I are in Goodyear. Just had to come and buy a house before the rally. Looks like we'll be Arizonans within a year or so, once the house is built.
Question about getting to the rally. We plan to leave here Friday morning. Any suggestions on the best route north? Should we take the two-lane 303 bypass or brave the traffic on 17. We're right at the Cotton Lane exit on I-10. When we get up north, what is the best exit to Dead Horse? There seem to be two possibilities, but perhaps one is better than the other.
Thanks in advance for advice.

The 303 would be a good route for Friday morning. You will have a few lights, but will avoid the Phoenix area. Take the 303 north to the carefree highway. Go east to I-17 and go North. Exit at route 260 (Verde Valley) and go West to Cottonwood. You will see signs to Cottonwood and Dead Horse Ranch State Park. C U at the ranch!

Opps
Mr. R just told me I messed up by indicating what I was making. I feel bad, I did'nt read all 500+ responses (can tell what he does at work and home ) Me, I travel all over New Mexico, so my spare time is working or driving. So I get very little airstream forum time. This week, I am in my local area and at home. Well, anyway, sorry for the error. (p.s. he isn't getting any Karma points from me, for making me feel bad)

That's alright Anthony. He makes us all feel bad at times. This weekend though, he promises to be good.

I'm sure there are limitations to the first rule - but according to Richard, the FCU isn't poised on the brink of a dress code... as i understand it, Mr. Bo will demonstrate that at the rally... such tomfoolery may be the source of some sarcastic banter but the tone of the unit, so far, seems very relaxed. Better to join the fun and fire some literary marshmellos back...

Airstream snowed in
This picture was taken at noon today, Feb. 14.
Unless there is some major melting soon, our trip to the Cottonwood Rally is in question.
Due to our 5000' elevation, our Rally season does not start as early as it does in Southern CA and AZ.

Going to miss the BIG kick off.....
FCU friends and family......Since I'm in a wedding this weekend... We will miss our first FCU rally So we'll wait to meet ya' all at the next one.... which BTW is on the calendar.. April Fools weekend in Tucson... talk about it around the campfire this weekend....if you get along with the new people you meet.... add your name to the list we'll see you at our second FCU rally!
But since I won't be attending, I feel it is important that I at least offer a toast in celebration to the start of our new FCU.
Cheers,
Brent
