I Wanna Bring A Dish 4 the Pot Luck...
i'm going to bring a rare treat...
something that critics everywhere are raving about.
normally i'd do a horse douver platter,
but not at the "beat a dead horse to death kamp and convention".
no sir.
i'm spent months developing this, and it's time has come...
click on the recipe below.

Brad,
I'm kind of in a Catch-22 - maybe... In order to be part of WBCCI you need a unit and in order to be in a unit you need to be in WBCCI. Will your unit application have the "force of law" to qualify for WBCCI membership. I'm more interested in being part of the 4CU than WBCCI but seems like the charter members of 4CU have been part of WBCCI for some time.... good enough for me.
Thanks
Mike

The FCU is a provisional unit of WBCCI, which means for all practical purposes, it a unit of the WBCCI awaiting its final charter. Anyone who signs up before we submit our final charter will be a charter member of the unit.

Jan and I made a day trip to Dead Horse today to visit with my flyfishing club and to check things out. The weather was nice, overcast around 60 degrees. The campers said that it was around 40 at night. We are all paid for and the rangers have a list of names. When you arrive, tell them that you are with the 4 Corners group and they will give you your pass and direct you on your way. How for the Good and bad news!
Good: Water is available at several spots around the area. Not to hook up to, but to fill the tanks. The bathrooms look great, hot showers and a sink around the back if you need to dump a tote with grey water. The ramada is larger then I remembered! It has 11 tables and will be a perfect fit for our group. We will need a few tables for food, we will bring a couple. The ramada also has 15 amp electrical service. The corrals are still setup at the far end of the area (Kevbo), they could hold a few horses. I chated with the area host, seems like a very nice guy. His SOB trailer is away from ours, but I invited him to the happy hour and the pot luck. A few of the rangers might stop by for happy hour, seems that they heard about the M-Ball! They also asked me about Kevbo???? They are going Defcom 3 just in case! Cell phones work well or at least mine did. Yes they have a domino's pizza in Cottonwood.
Best gas price in Cottonwood was Woodies at $2.079, a little small for trailers, but a great price. Giant gas (where you turn onto Main Street is $2.119 and is big enough for large rigs.
Bad: The gigantic, roast an entire cow size fire pit is gone . They replaced it with a very nice, but smaller pit, something about global warming. We can still get a nice size blaze going and there is plenty of room all around it for everyone.
Very Bad: Pet owners, they have a ton of these little thorns on the ground. Someone called them Bull Heads and we wound up pulling a few off our dogs feet today. You will need to keep a close eye on your dogs and remove these as they pick them up, maybe a pair of shoes might help!
Here are a few photos from todays trip:

Feed Store?
hi richard and jan,
great report...
is there a feed store close by?
when not hanging out at the dive cowboy bars, feed stores are cool. great place to cruise cowgirls. i've met some of the nicest people at feed stores, bowling alleys, you know the good places...
i'm concerned about global warming as well... we should bring more wood. nothing wrong with being over wooded.

I forgot to mention one thing in my post about visiting the rally sight yesterday. Gracie (yellow lab) has not forgotten where the ditch of water that runs behind the camp sites is located. Bring extra towels!

Richard,
I'll be looking to fill the fresh water tank on the way in. Is there a good place to pull up next to a spigot? I've got some real nice juniper wood ready (tested it last night). Nothing like Kevbo's pile though. For those who use diesel I usually fill-up at the Chevron on the south side of the road at the I17 (Camp verde) exit. Easy tow vehicle and trailer access and places to turn around. See you all Friday.

I know the station you are talking about, didn't catch the price. The Giant in Cottonwood is nice and big also. It is where you turn onto main st and regular is 2.11. There are several water spigots right at the camping area you can fill up with. Also just inside the main gate, you pass the dump station where water is also available. I tend to pass on that one, something about dump stations....
BTW, I checked with the rangers yesterday and the main gate is open 24 x 7. If you are coming in late, just drive to the area if the office is closed. You can check in with them in the morning. The area for the rally is called Ravens Loop. It is the first real road to the left after entering the park. The gate to Ravens Loop will be half closed with a reserved sign on it. Pull in and find a spot in the sea of aluminum! I will try to get a few 4CU signs posted Thursday.
