Richard,

Funny you should mention a freezer.............

I had just that happen a bunch of years ago. I was in Costa Rica and the Wife was at home. Our 25lb Main Coon Cat passed while I was away and she called to ask what she should do with him. I said to wrap him up in plastic and put him in the freezer until I got back.

When I arrived 2 weeks later, I dug a BIG hole in the corner of the back yard where he used to hang out a lot to watch the birdies, built the big guy a nice casket, planted him in the hole and put a giant Sequoia sapling over the site.

I'm sure he was very happy with the decision.

The weather can be all over the place - mostly warm days, cool nights - I have seen snow on opening morning.......

Animals are ok as long as they are on a leash and don't disturb the other camper types - at least thats according to the balloon rules.

I think they are also limited to the RV area and are not allowed in the balloon area.

Speaking of locks...

Speaking of lock repair...

(Huh?...just a little off topic but it was brought up on this thread earlier so anyway...)

Has anyone done this repair?

I sent for and received the little part (thank you)
but haven't installed it yet. Any tips?

I have only read about the fix. My trailer is 31 years older then yours, I am happy when the door locks. Why not bring the part with you to the fiesta. We have enough people to really mess things up! If it gets too bad, we can always bribe lewster to baiil us out. I know Kevbo and Deb both need that fix as well....

We can discuss the 'bribe' schedule at the first happy hour

Stop by and say Hi!

I am sure that there are several forums members who are in the area of the Balloon Fiesta. If you are going to be visiting the fiesta this year, why not stop by and say hi. Our exact location for the camping has not been nailed down at this time, but it should be posted shortly. With 20+ Airstream Trailers and Motor Homes, we should be easy to spot.

I look foward to meeting everyone!

We will be in the west area, near the Museum unless we get changed at last minute - we will be very easy to find.

Come join us for our Potluck dinner on Sat afternoon - will probably get started around 3:00 or so.............Bring steak and lobster....

Bikes?

Ken,

Are bicycles allowed, and if we are in the VIP West campground, how far is it to the Balloon launching field?

Good question about the bikes, anyone have an answer.
I think the area we are talking about is the one circled in the upper left...

John, if you go to the initial rally zone post, under the VIP RV info there is a link that gives you a map. It looks like we are right next to the field, the only question will be...where is the entrance to get in? Debbie

Yes bikes are allowed, as I am bringing mine and hoping we can put a ride together sometime during the fiesta.....

They are not allowed on the fiesta grounds where the balloons are.

You can about throw a coin from where we are to where the balloons take off - see above map from Richard.

The enterence is several hundred feet from where we are is I remember correctly.

Thanks for the map Richard - it really shows things well - that whole big green area is the launching area - so you can see we are very close.

Debbie,

Looked at the map in the link, and Richard's map, and one more, they are all different to my eyes...a bit confusing. I have even gone to Google Earth, and where the maps show VIP West looks like a big dirt wash next to the river???? I am so confused. I am just trying to get perspective, and you are right, we might be close, but is there an entrance close by??

Thus the question about bicycles. And are margi-balls allowed inside the launch area, or do we have to disguise the little guy as a kid wrapped up in his little red wagon?

John

Ken,

Either you are using it as a figure of speech or you have one heck of an arm. Thanks for getting us in so close and away from I25. I think we are all getting excited...or at least I am.

I'm not sure - bring some pennies

I'm wondering if you are looking at the RV spots across the road from us...Richard's picture is where we are - and you can see the big green field right next to us. If you can post what you are looking at, maybe I be of more help.

Those spots across the road are less expensive - some have power, some do not - its gets to be a bit of a dust bowl over there. The arrow in the upper left hand corner points to Almeda road - we are just to the right of that and the big green field is just to the right of that.

Having said that you will be on your feet a lot, because there are about 700 balloons that take off from that big field within about 1-2 hours of each other. Thats a ton of balloons and you really need a big space to do it.

Hope this helps - sorry for the ramble

Ken
