I have 17 on my list (if you have not signed up on the forum, please do so) and a couple that I've received private e-mails. So we have ourself a rally.
We are required to pay 1/2 now ($130 each site) and the rest is due by August 31, 2007. They do have a refund policy of $10/day if you decide later you cannot make it.
So if you all can please send me your deposit made out to the Four Corners Unit and send to
Ken Johansen
P.O. Box 1554
Tijeras, NM 87059
I'll need to send them money within the next couple of weeks - I'm going to tell them we are taking the 20 spaces I reserved and see if I can hold more.
We are going to have a great time!!!!

Check Is In The Mail!
We are IN... Check is in the mail Ken... this will be fun! I may try to get in Thursday late it will be a looonnng one day tow from Phoenix with two little ones, but they are seasoned travelers at a young age.....which one of you crazy birds will let me park in front of your house Thursday night?
We are excited this will be fun....
I'm thinking that since my birthday is in July a couple of generators have been on my wish list for a while.....this may be the excuse I've been looking for....

Whens you birthday in July - I'm a July baby too - the 18th - I want a generator too. And yes this is my excuse for a generator - btw Honda has a booth there every year - so you can buy one there - we will all help you pick one out
Will figure out a place for you to park Thurs night - lets see how many we have coming in on Thurs - will get something figured out....

Soo from Socal?
What is a good halfway spot to camp overnight....and when should we avoid hitting the Phoenix area? Or is there a good alternate around the traffic?

Ron and Debbie,
We are going to take I40 across and stop at Meteor Crater on the way to the rally in NM. The campground is right off I40 (200 yards) and real easy to access. We stayed there before and found it worked great for a one night layover. The drive to Albuquerque is no problem from here, which is just a bit past Flagstaff. We should consider a caravan.

John,
"A bit past Flagstaff" Our oldest daughter went to undergraduate school at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, we made the trip many times. From our house to Flagstaff is about 500 miles to Alb about another 250. Williams is a little over 400 and about as close to halfway as you can get.

Well now, I'm just a Gene Autry - Happy Trails kind a old guy. Never did trust the Lone Ranger who was never really alone. Now that could be a mind blowing movie.

Hmmm. I think it was kind of homophobic, myself. Besides, both those guys were so gross, and associating a candy bar--or anything edible-- with them is just plain yukko!

Bill,
You are right, it is more than half way, and yes, a bit past Flagstaff is pushing it, but it is easy to find and surrounded by cosmic adventureland. Williams is probably a better choice for halfway, however, if you are like me, when it is only a travel day, I try to make some good distance, and 500 miles is about right for a good days expedited travel. That way we get to the Balloon Bash earlier in the day.
I am pretty easygoing, so I will flow with the masses even if it is only a few of us from So Cal.
