Richard,

Hatch is only 185 miles south on I-25. Their chile festival is Labor Day weekend. There might be some left by October.

That's it, leave after the Ballon Festival, and stop in Hatch on your way home to Phoenix on I-10.

Been gone again - I'm baaaack...

Richard - no the belly is not on yet - its part of the 2% still to go

Time - shorts and t-shirts may be a little lite in Oct

Catering - since I'll need to set it up in advance, don't want to chance not having enough - I put it out there to see if there was major interest, there is not - will just do more pot lucks or something.....

Ken,

You havn't seen the hair on my arms and legs! Some would clasify me as "wooley". As I think about it, maybe I should cover up.

kev,

I could wear a tuxedo and I would still be underdressed compared to your normal attire.

Talking Head'Em Up - Move 'Em Out

This adventure starts for me tomorrow morning. First stop is Dallas for son's wedding, then on to Nebraska to visit sister, she grows cows, and finally wander down to Albuquerque where Melvene will meet me for the Fiesta. This is gona be good.
Got me a new shirt at the good will and packed my best bibs. I tried it all on for Melvene and she thought I was fix'en to go to church. No such thing I tells her, I hear they dress up real fine for this balloon thing. I am sorta worried about my flip-flops as I hear they got rattlers that can jump clear across the path and bite you. That why the westerners buy all our gator skins - they make boots from them and every one knows rattlers won't bite gator skin. It's like they cousins but not the kissing kind. Maybe I can find some of them there gator boots so as I won't have to worry about snake bite. Also, I heard if you drink a glass of Jack Daniels before you venture out in the morning, them nasty snakes won't bite ya either

See you all real soon I gotta go stir the grits.

PR,

Don't worry about them rattlers......just keep the sawed-off 12 gauge handy!

I am glad to see I won't be the only Airstreamer wearing flip-flops. Of course, I bet I will be the only one with riveted straps.

Well now mine was store bought so they was sewed but the left one broke there, you know, between the toes so I fixed it with a - yup you got it, POP RIVET Had no choice as I was out of duct tape - actually I think Melvene stole the duct tape to fix her rear fenders and under the door of her Desoto Firedome. Drivers seat needed some too! Her pushbutton that make it go don't work right no more so she got this screw driver that she wiggles around in that hole where the button was and it sparks and smokes and them in a little while - away she goes.

Good timing - Alan Jackson and I think its Diamond Rio are playing here together that weekend - they won't be at a dive bar though....

I'm gonna bring some stuff to trade - such as foods that you might not readily find out there in the leftward part of the country.

I was thinking about VA peanuts, stone ground grits, good NC-style BBQ sauce (such as Scott's), House Autry hush-puppy mix, just as a start.

If you guys have stuff that you think we'd benefit from, bring it on.

Richard, I just got home from a mechanical trip to Farmington...the wally world in Durango was selling big boxes(banana box size) of hatch chiles, and they had the roasters outside...I don't know how long they will be doing this, but I would guess that other wallys would be doing the same thing...

I'm opting for basic black sandals with formal flamingo attire for the social hour, if no one objects...otherwise, I'll be wearing formal flamingo attire with basic black sandals.
