About the fiesta, are you going straight to the fiesta (I can not spell albaqueque, that big city in new mexico) or are you goint to lay over thursday night at the Grants KOA?

As far as social details, ask Kevin. That's why he gets the big bucks!

Hawaiian shirts....no problem. Speedos...mmmmm...not my style. 44's.....I actually prefer the cleaner entry of a 156 grain 9mm hollow point. Fits much better in the pocket too!

mr lew,

9mm is cool, and 156gr +p's are hott, BUT .44 mag 300gr +p's go through an engine block, the next engine block, and maybe will stop in the third. i guess it's a matter of where you live. here in so calif it's drive by's... i like to play "can opener". however you have a valid point, so i also have two glocks, a model 19 and a model 17; each w/ the required high capacity mags and +2 extensions... so were agreeing. i have shade or poolside left, but nothing close to the cafe, and beachfront has been spoken for.

All This Macho Talk is Frightening Me...

...but so did the macho man at the range yesterday.
He was shooting a .480 revolver about as big as a small Labrador retreiver.
When the smoke cleared after a 25 round string of self defense, action firing, he had no feeling in the fingers of his right hand, and there were fewer than ten rounds on target in the vital area. Now that is frightening.

And what is all this hositlity toward engine blocks? Must be a California, environmentalist agenda or something.

Guns and Safety vest

Hmmm - Do I need to bring Zap's (my lab ) safety vest normally used during hunting season to this rally? You all start shooting, she's gona wanta see some birds and she don't like road runners. I suspect they have a bad taste even though that flea bitten 'ol coyote seems to like them.

Richard- we're seriously thinking about going to Angel Fire with the region 11 folks, then splitting off from them when they aim for 5 nites in Santa Fey, so we may go to ABQ early, or we might go to Grant and meet up...so many decisions and not enough shirts...

Parking Meister

Kevbo--A few days ago, you suggested I bring some beer for your pleasure. I've been giving this careful thought. Given the location of the convention/rally ( the real old west which includes rural Az and all of NM ), and the macho banter of the last day or so, I've selected a very private label "Ol west" microbrew for your enjoyment. I have it in very limited quantities as it is difficult to obtain. Goes by the name of 'Ol Coyote Scent. You may choose to park me on the perimeter of our encampment as the first line of defense,or offence, and if you do, I understand.

Ken---We'll let Kevbo do a comparison test for the group. Maybe around our campfire on Friday nite, after a few swigs of Ta-Kill-Ya.

Balloon Rides w/Rainbow Ryders

All--Diana and I just made our balloon ride reservations for Mon morning Oct 8. I'm not the first from our group to do so. These folks, Rainbow Ryders, are the only commerical venture lifting off from the Fiesta grounds proper. It's $30 less per person on week days compared to the weekend. If you are planning to look at the fiesta from this vantage point, it might be funner if the group did it at the same time. Might even get some balloon to balloon pictures. Monday AM is approx 50% booked according to Scott, who took our order at 800-725-2477

mr dearest bob,

i thought you wanted beachfront? if i move someone from the pool, or from behind the cafe or gosh forbid the shade, i'm history! so i've got you down beachfront, with a volume of beer (that means a lot for the folks in Gorman, CA). as we get closer to the event there may be a lot of infighter over position. stick close to me...

re: macho verbage; please note, NM is still part of the US. i don't make the rules, i just follow'em.

Ken J----Diana and our BBQ buddies says the taste depends on what the coyote has been eating. Sometimes it tastes like a bad batch of Lone Star. But I don't want to influence Kevin in the taste off. I'm sure he'll come to his own conclusions.

i'm bringing belgium, and cowboy beers... it doesn't matter what the trappist monks have been eating, it's still 13.5% beer.

In defense if Ken J, the thing I learned while surf fishing at Hatteras was that if you drank regular beer, naptime came seriously early in the afternoon, if you made it to lunch. Whereas light beer, of which I, too, like Coors Light the best, allowed you to drink early and often and still remain able to hold your rod towards the ocean in hopes of accomplishing something. By something, I mean the chance for there to be a jerk at both ends of the line, not just the one on the beach side.

Now, cocktail hour is a whole another country.

Pat (frisky now, since shade is in the bag).

I emailed the fiesta and asked about the rule on pets. This is the reply i got:
Quote:
Subject: RE: VIP RV Area

Pets are permitted in the RV park but not the Fiesta park. Usual rules of clean up and always on a leash. The area is covered with millings and there is no shade.

Regards,

Susan Anthony

What are millings?
