Karen and I will again this year remain at camp to ensure no one steals it.

It's rough duty but we'll do it for the team.

*"Min, Could we have another one please?*

I intend to be where I have been for the last several days, standing outside Jimmini's trailer...cup in hand(got my name marks-a-lotted on it) at before sunrise, waiting for Jim to get up!!!...when Min shows up, I may have a plate in the other hand...trying to imagine life without the desert is like hitting oneself with a hammer...Milo, you and Karen have the six covered...I'll take on the duty watch, long as I can nap...

rockhound state park

On my travel to the rally ...i first thought about staying at the SKP park Dream Catchers in Deming, and may still, but discovered Rockhound State Park while reading here...Looks nice...any recommendations??

And then being adventurous I was plotting a route to avoid IH10.... where I would travel from Lordsburg NM via US 70 West to Globe AZ, then picking up US 60 and AZ 79 to Florence AZ then AZ 287..AZ 87 to the park..

anyone know these routes or have any thoughts???

thanks......

Rockhound is well known for geode and rockhunting, but it is also a beautiful site.

Also, I am going to be passing through the Deming area on the 30th on the way to the rally.

Rally Schedule and Map of Picacho Peak SP

Many thanks to Mrs. Silverback for her outstanding job in putting this schedule and map together for the rally.

I have attached a copy to this thread so that everyone may have it to help with planning and packing. This is really going to be great!

Getting Ready!

Hi,
We're looking forward to getting out of town and meeting up with our Airstream friends.

Is the White Elephant gift per person or per Airstream?

Carly, our 8 month old New Mexico brown dog puppy is looking forward to hiking. I'm hoping we can wear her out!

Based on past experience at the Dead Horse Rally last year, I believe that if you and your partner have more than one gift that you wish to "trade" for something possibly better, you may do so. You would then have a chance to exchange EACH of your wrapped treasures for someone else's wrapped treasures - one for one! Might want to have one of the more experienced gifters verify that though . . . .

Can we bring something to the white elephant and not take one in return?

You know, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe there will be attendees who don't have a gift and would like to play. I think mine could be made available...

Our white elephants will not have a 'return to sender' address...and, yes, there will be more than one...

Mike, does this mean the possible return of "THE BOOK"?

We should be there on the 30th assuming that we can get the Stream up the driveway and through the snow. Will probably overnight in Benson or Deming depending on when we get out on the 29th.

Art, so glad you are joining us... the hike is going to be great! Barbara, by bringing one gift per person only adds to the fun and mystery of it all... and Milo, you will be required to partake if you add something... we are just funny that way. Howard... I thought the "book" was burned at DH perhaps I am mistaken... looking forward to some smoked salmon! Brad you know the drill... perhaps you will get something very useful... you never know.

I'm sure I read somewhere that while those busy exerting themselves valiantly in the attempt to climb the hills that those volunteering to stay behind will be busy polishing all the trailers. In that way those who get high, uh to clarify the high remark - enough on the trails will be able to find their way back to camp. I think this is a very kind and reasonable offer by those who choose to stay behind and still get a wee bit of exercise. It is such a small thing to do for those who are busy being healthy. Got to earn those white elephant gifts you know....

No shine Barry (well, except for where the hair used to be on my head)
