15th Annual Canopener Rally
Jan. 6 - 10th, 2021
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Florida


Reservations are made and planning is underway for the 15th annual Canopener Rally. We will be closely monitoring the CoVid-19 guidance regarding the spread of the virus and the status of camping at Topsail State Park. Our goal is to provide a rally that is fun and safe for everyone. Fortunately with the rally scheduled in early 2021, we have the opportunity to observe, adapt, and implement best practices from other rallies, caravans, and campgrounds. We are hopeful this virus and its impacts are under control by then.

How can I register (if still available) for CanOpener 2021?

January 7 - 10, 2021

We will be going back to it in 2006 style, the first gathering. No scheduled events - just a good time seeing old friends, meeting new ones, taking hikes and bike riding. And, of course, all that beautiful silver in one place.

Our friends at Foley Airstream will still be there to support us. We will follow all CDC and Florida State Park Covid safety guidelines that are in place at that time.

Registration will be set up soon - so we can get a head count and have emergency information - so stay tuned to Facebook and Airforums on how to register.

If you don't have a campsite - try to be patient - they usually start opening up the closer the time gets.

I sat on the Reserve America web site in February.
There's no guarantees, because people reserve different days, so even if you're ready at 8am, 11 months in advance doesn't mean you'll find a spot. Persistence pays off.
I'm arriving Dec. 27! What better place to spend a quiet New Year's Eve than Topsail Hill!

I plan to play guitar and bass a lot and hope others will also want to play. I will see if StewBall will organize the AlumaNotes as an evening show also.

As the time gets closer some folks already reserving a site will cancel.
perhaps you can connect with them and arrange a time for them to cancel, then be waiting like a hawk to pounce. I did that the second year, and a wonderful lady cancelled at 10 am, and I was hovering over my mouse. Got it.

So if you're going to cancel, let us know here beforehand so someone can take advantage of your site with a PM or two. Win-win.

That's not unusual. It's a popular place. When I reserved in February there were only four spots available.

But people play silly reindeer games. Let's say I want a spot for Jan 2. I can't reserve until Feb. 2 at 8 am. (11 months out at 8 am.) But I know a lot of people will be waiting, so I reserve for Dec 28, even though I have no intention of arriving, but it allows me to reserve on Jan. 28, not Feb 2!!!
Then, after I have my spot, I cancel from Dec. 28-Jan 2.
Believe me, it's done even though I consider it cheating.
