Calgary is more than Stampede
Calgary’s Stampede is a must see but the city has so much more to offer.

We were hoping to take a little drive up that way this summer. We've driven through Calgary but didn't spend any time there and I've heard good things.
I had to dig some to get details. It looks like the dates are July 5-10? I see that it's $1,000 for two which in my mind is a lot. It includes some food and a train ride, but I'm wondering what else?

The rally fees include so much more:
- Entry into the Stampede Grounds
- Tickets and reserved seating for the World class rodeo
- Tickets and reserved seating for the Chuck Wagon tickets - this event alone is worth visiting the stampede.
- Tickets and reserved seating for the Grandstand show and fireworks displays.
- Entry into the Rangeland Tent for some live country music and if you are inclined dancing. A drink ticket is also included.
- Within the grounds you can take in the Midway, a number of free concerts, 4H shows, sheepdog trials, livestock exhibitions, quilting and home craft exhibitions, farrier competitions, etc. etc.
- Bus rides to and from the stampede.

Thanks, very helpful - I missed that. Maybe I missed it also, is there a separate Airstream section? Maybe by definition with a rally. I'd hate to be lumped in with SOBs.

The campground has set aside fully serviced spots for the rally. And for our American friends your dollar is worth almost 40% more in Canada.

Those traveling with dogs should note that the campground allows fireworks.Their website says:
FIREWORKS – We have a designated firework area. You must check with the camp hosts for conditions and any bans prior to using it. Consumer-grade fireworks only. All campers should be aware that the fireworks site may be used by campers on any night. Please make sure all pets are secured since fireworks may startle them. Fireworks can be purchased at the campground store.
Just worth noting if your pet reacts to fireworks.

Love Calgary as well as Alberta and BC.
A little off topic, but when I was younger (and way before I owned an Airstream) I took a month off and rode VIA from Toronto through Canada to Prince Rupert (as far as I know that's not possible today). Spent time in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton (Via ran daily train service from Calgary to Edmonton, again no longer available I believe) then to Jasper and on to Prince Rupert. From Prince Rupert I took the ferry down to Port Hardy (Vancouver Island) and hitched a ride to Vancouver.
Took a bus down to Seattle, then flew down to LA and bought a motorcycle to ride back to Ohio.
Visited the Devonian Gardens in Calgary and made a lot of friends along the way. TBH, Canadians are much more sociable than typical Americans. The lounge car was a great meeting place.
I've been back several times since (3 additional train trips across Canada) and a month riding my motorcycle through BC and Alberta.

Alberta - BC National Parks
Visiting the stunningly beautiful, iconic western Canadian national parks including places like Banff, Lake Louise, Ice Field Parkway, Jasper takes a bit more work these days because of increased tourism. There are plenty other options, but if you have never been a visit is well worth the effort. Like they say a picture is worth a 1000 words, well a video is worth 10,000. The following video showcases these aforementioned areas as well as providing tips to aid in your planning. Enjoy!

Things to do in Calgary
Hello, it is 127 days until the start of the Sip of Diamond Valley Rally. Over the next few weeks, we will share more about the city we proudly live in. We are much more than just the Stampede; there is plenty to see and do in Calgary. If you have the time, we encourage you to explore what Calgary offers.
Several interesting places we have to share can be reached through our public transportation system. You can leave your vehicle at one of the Light Rail Train (LRT) stations, simplifying parking and travel through the city. We will provide a link to our LRT system.
First on our list is Calgary’s Public Library. The Architectural Digest described the Calgary library as one of the most anticipated buildings on the planet. It is an architectural wonder but also an interesting library experience.
Second on our list is the Calgary Zoo. It is the second-largest zoo in Canada, with a strong mandate on animal preservation and education. It is also a beautiful place located, in part, on an island in the Bow River. The Western Canadian Exhibits are particularly interesting – if you want to see bears, moose or mountain sheep up close, this is a great place. The zoo is much more, though.

Third on our list is the TELUS Spark Science Centre. It is a space for people of all ages and abilities to let go and embrace the desire to explore and get closer to science, technology, engineering, art and math. Exhibits and programs ignite a sense of wonder and excitement. The Science Centre shares parking with the Calgary Zoo, and both can be accessed via the LRT.

Places To Visit In Calgary
This is our second post on places to visit in Calgary. We are looking forward to meeting all those signed up for the Sip of Diamond Valley Rally and The Calgary National Stampede Event Rally.
Studio Bell, Home of the National Music Centre, is a cultural institution for the whole country. Explore five floors of exhibitions that tell the story of music in Canada, celebrate music icons at four Canadian Halls of Fame, rock out at interactive instrument installations and check out North America’s most eclectic musical instrument collection.
https://www.evexperience.com/studio-bell
Calgary Tower - Located 191 metres above the downtown core, the Calgary Tower offers the best view in the city and is a must-see on any visitor's itinerary. On the Observation Deck you'll experience a spectacular 360° view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, the foothills, and the prairies.
https://www.calgarytower.com/
Princess Island Park – Located north of downtown in the middle of the Bow River, take the bridge over to this island, with grassy fields made for tossing Frisbees, biking and walking paths and ample space to stretch out. During the summer months, you can catch a Shakespeare production in the park's natural grass amphitheater or check out the Folk Music Festival in July. For an upscale lunch or dinner visit the River Café.
The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary) - Located where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet, The Confluence: Historic Site & Parkland, is a place of Indigenous gathering and ceremony steeped in thousands of years of tradition and history. Fort Calgary was built on the land at The Confluence in 1875 by the North-West Mounted Police.

Stephen Avenue Walk - Occupying three blocks of downtown's 8th Avenue, the Stephen Avenue Walk is one of the city's most popular shopping venues. This pedestrian-only shopping area – also dubbed a National Historic District – is lined with trendy stores, delectable restaurants and even several nightclubs. This downtown stretch is also the place to go for avid culture hounds; street performers, local artists and even festivals are often found here.
