I highly recommend this fun event which I attended for the first time three years ago. The island location of the town of Georgetown coupled with the warm hospitality of the Horne's makes for a memorable event. One afternoon, a few of us went kayaking in Knubble Bay while others spent the day fishing. The highlight of the event for me was the fabulous lobster bake (steak BBQ) on Saturday night. The Bath-Georgetown, ME area is simply stunning with its ample ocean access and things to do:
Reid State Park is great for hiking and picnics:

Here is more information about things to do in the area:

We sent an e-mail to George a week ago saying we'd like to come. Gives me the oportunity to respond to invitation George offered during 2001 region rally, at Hiram, to visit Georgetown. I didn't send check for kitty, but will this Monday. Charlie & Sandy WBCCI 1128. PS, I'm getting to like this Forums website.

mid-coast Maine art community?
Many years ago, when I last visited the coast of Maine, I stumbled upon a small town on the midcoast that was jam-packed with art galleries, craftspeople, pottery-makers, etc. I'd like to visit there again when we come up for the Georgetown rally, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the town. Can anyone from that neck of the woods help me out with this?
Thanks! -J

Thanks, Chuck!! That was a good lead.
I don't think it was Wiscasset, but that name took me to an internet search that gave me Boothbay Harbor. Bingo! I'm pretty sure that's the town and area. Probably the artists and galleries I'm looking for have branched out to Wiscasset. This is gonna be a fun weekend!!
Btw, Chuck, from your new Avatar picture I think you've changed a bit since I last saw you. Not to worry though, I'm sure I'll recognize you when I see you.

oh, yeah, well, "boothbay". sure. But when I think "BBH", I think "touristy" more than "artsy". but I suppose yes, there are quite a few of those sorts of places there. Talk to Diane about BBH; she's been going up there since she was a baby...family in the area, etc, etc. In fact, the last time we went to George's rally, thats what we did on Saturday afternoon: took a drive over to Boothbay. Its not all that far, but it can be a long drive, as there is only one way in there (rt. 1) and going through Wiscasset, it gets absolutely clogged on the weekends.
there are also a couple of nice campgrounds in the immediate vicinity of BBH. We've stayed there w/ the trailer a few times.
As for staying at George's....bring bug juice. Bring lots and lots of it. bathe in it.

well, you know...its summer, and I got some sun. But I don't think I've really changed all that much since you've seen me...have I?

Hmmm, I've either got the wrong place, or I stumbled into Boothbay H. in the off-season. Or maybe I'm just incompetent as a tourist since it took a wrong turn for me to discover the place.

Well, yes, I guess that might be it. I thought it was just the sunglasses, but now that you mention it, you did get a little sun. And is that a new permanent wave? Very nice!

Actually I was thinking along the same line as you, will be lugging the Honda EU2000i and the Cyclo with us as we are running out of time to get The Tube's finish touched up for the Region One Rally.

Hoping a new NEU member joins our party
We just got a new New England Unit member this week - they are transferring from MAL to NEU. These folks live in Deer Isle, ME and have a 67 Caravel that's been polished to a mirror shine. Hoping they try to make it to this rally,!

I am bringing both 2000's. I want to test out the tandem hook-up. The new norcold fridge is installed and works on all three. Draws 18amp Dc. Kill the batteries in 12 hours.

Passed a few Airstreams on our way north to Bryant Pond to drop the boyz off at conservation camp. Travel section in today's paper featured coastal Maine and Georgetown - sorry we had to miss this one. Looking for some pictures and chatter on what was sure to be another Rally for the books.

's all good in Maine
We weathered rain, and we sprayed continuously for bugs, but we still had a great time in Maine this past weekend. Meeting more of the NEU members was the highlight of the trip for us.
Saw a lot of Airstreams -- 3 at the campground we went to after the rendezvous, a few more on the road. Got behind a 60s Tradewind headed south from Maine on Tuesday. If that was you with the MA plate, we were the folks waving from the '06 Bambi. Howdy!
Hey, myboyburt, we stopped at Edgecomb Pottery and it was okay. I still like the Georgetown pottery better. Now was it 4 parts water to 1 part sugar for the hummingbird feeder? We lost the instructions...
