The Fifth Annual 4CU New Years Rally at Picacho Peak State Park is coming right up!
Mark your calendars for Friday, December 30, 2011 to Monday, January 2, 2012 (check out by 12 noon)! Early arrivals are welcome starting Thursday, December 29, in the Group site (or earlier than that in the regular campground sites).
Picacho Peak State Park is in Arizona, right off I-10, about half way between Phoenix and Tucson. The closest town is Eloy, AZ, situated between Casa Grande and Tucson.
We will rally in the Quail group area, which has electricity in the ramada; water is available, and there is a large group fire-ring for our New Year’s Eve Bonfire. We'll be providing champagne to ring in the New Year! The Quail Group site is dry camping - no hookups. But we will have full access to the modern showers and restrooms at the regular campground nearby, which is also where we can use the dump station and water.
Besides ringing in the New Year, we have planned a group hike up the Peak (optional, of course!), a Cook-Off Contest, a Geocache Team Hunt, a White Elephant Gift Exchange, games, evening Happy Hours, at least one Potluck dinner, and some time to just sit back and relax in (what we hope will be) the mild Arizona winter weather!
We have paid the $35 to reserve the group site. Your cost is $15 a night per trailer, payable to the Ranger when you arrive and check in. Tell them you are with the Airstream Rally in the Quail Group Site.
All activities are optional of course, and we will maintain a fairly informal schedule!
What to bring?
Food & drinks for potlucks, Cook-off, and snacks
Firewood for group fire-ring
A GPS device, or a GPS App on your Smartphone for Geocache Hunt
Cash (dollars) for games and raffle tickets
A wrapped White Elephant Gift
Warm clothes, including hats & gloves, for possible cold evening temperatures
Sturdy shoes & gloves if planning to hike to the Peak!
This is a Four Corners Unit rally and is open to all WBCCI members. Anyone who is not a member will have to be a guest (we’ll work with you on this!). A planned Agenda will be forthcoming via email to all who sign up!
Co-hosted once again by the fabulous Louis & Sergio and Ken & Linda, this rally is a welcome retreat from the hectic holiday season in a lovely Sonoran Desert environment, and a great way to start off the New Year! We hope to see you around the campfire!
