4th Annual Vintage Restoration Rally
Please join us for the fourth annual Restoration Rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This is a serious seminar style rally taught by professionals for anyone interested in hands on learning all of the ins and outs of restoring a vintage trailer, or just seeing how these trailers are put together.
This rally is part classroom and part hands on and does not require you to bring your trailer. Topics anticipated are as follows:
New this year! – A hands on demo on converting your drum brakes to disk brakes – this will be great for old and new Airstreams.
Complete overview of trailer restoration – with lots of photos to see
Rivet and skin skills taught by Aircraft experts
Cabinet building skills
Electrical – basic and high tech wiring
Axle replacement
Door and window rebuilding/repair
Solar
And more!
As in the past, this really will feature once again Area 63 productions and Uwe Salwender (UWE on the forums). Many of you know of the incredible Airstream restorations that he turns out from his studio. He is planning on giving a slide presentation on some the trick stuff he’s done over the years. Also featured is Kip Eagan (Aerowood) – he is a master aircraft skin mechanic and has incredible knowledge all things aluminum. New this year we will feature Lew Farber (Lewster) and master RV tech who will be talking about Solar installs and electrical wiring.
I’m sure you are familier some of these folks and know to be experts in their field as well as others you may not know as well. We are very lucky to have assembled the best of the best to show you how to do things right.
Check out our past years rallies at http://www.airforums.com/forums/f289...lly-61010.html, http://www.airforums.com/forums/f289/2009-fcu-vintage-restoration-rally-47536.htmlhttp://www.airforums.com/forums/f289/fcu-vintage-restoration-rally-39159-2.html and we think you will see it is a must attend event – this is the only rally whose focus is Airstream restoration taught by professionals - you will see and learn far more than humanly possible to absorb
We will have trailers at the rally that will be working on and tons and tons of tools around so that you can get some hands on experience.
So you want details…? Ok - we hold this rally the second weekend in June (9-12) at Enchanted Trails RV Park and Trading Post (an old route 66 trading post) http://www.enchantedtrails.com/ in Albuquerque NM. Our rally fee is $50 per person or $85 for a couple plus as screaming deal of $15 per night to Enchanted Trails (thank you Vicki!!) for the camp site. Please make your camping reservations directly with her.
Attached you will find the sign up sheet.
So what do you get for your rally fee? You get a great learning experience plus a catered meal on Saturday night (so you don’t have to worry about cooking after working hard all day) a continental breakfast (so you won’t have to worry about cooking after staying up late on Sat night) Sunday morning.
So don’t hesitate, we look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque!

Welcome to the Forums Gary! Lets hear about your Bambi II restoration project - we loving seeing unrestored projects, work in progress and fully restored trailers at this rally. We have the professionals on hand to look at them and give great advice...
Plus for those of you looking, we always seem to have a trailer or two for sale.
Also, you don't have to bring or own a trailer for this rally - we have a number of folks who stay in motels.
So yes! Call Vicki and reserve your space - be sure to let her know you are with the Restoration Rally.

Is there anyone heading down from Montana? I would love to go, but am not sure about traveling that far by myself. I would love to find another trailer headed that way to caravan with.

Julia - if you want to sign up, I can try to connect you with someone who is coming your way - as an alternative, you could fly down - let us know how we can help.
Antique - hope the Bambi is ready - we have another Bambi II coming, I could park you guys together and the two Bambi's can swap stories of the old days at the factory...

Karen and I will be there. We'll probably be bringing the Overlander, which is a restoration in progress.

Ken: We may bring Pearl, our '54 FC, if not it''ll be the Winick Bambi. Pearl is still in the queue awaiting her turn. Lots of stuff happening in the past few years, thank goodness she's a patient girl! ( www.TheChroniclesOfPearl.com reveals Jim's latest project!)

Thanks for the help in getting down there. I am really excited to bring my little petunia (1962 GT), but I really do not want to travel by myself. There is a chance my husband can get off and come with me. If he does, then I won't need to caravan with someone. I have been working on her for three years. At least the shell is back on, the outside completely sealed, and last fall she got a new pretty floor. Hence the rename from icky to petunia.
I will go ahead and get signed up and work on the travel arrangements as summer gets closer.
Are there programs on Sunday? Or is that when most folks start heading out? I am not sure how many days I need to make campground reservations for.
Thanks
Julia
