We arrived in Alamosa this afternoon and were greeted by 50+ wind gusts and cold, cold temps. Summer is over. Saw a few flakes of snow at 37˚ after we visited a friend in Monte Vista who has an antique store at the east side of town. Lots and lots of cools stuff. Look for the two houses on the north side of US 160 for lots of goodies.
Just flushed the black tank and hope to warm up soon, take a shower and put away the water hose and fill the water tank, all in the dark. After going to the Fiesta in the dark I can now see in the dark with the aid of a couple of flashlights.
Still talking about how great the Fiesta was. Thanks again to all those who put this together. Organizing an event like the rally is a big job and the smoother it runs, the better job was done. It was smooth.

Hi Richard,
We're in Santa Fe right now with our Airstream and were hoping to get to see one day at the balloon fiesta. We want to drive down early for the morning launching without our Airstream. Is there a way we could get in with the Airstream group for the liftoff either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? Where are you located in the park?
Thanks,
Jim & Cheryl

Our rally ended on Tuesday morning, sorry but we are all gone. We are currently in Gallup after spending 2 days in Cortez, CO. Jan and I would have enjoyed seeing you both again.

Thanks for the quick reply Richard. Sorry we missed the group, but couldn't get here soon enough for the rally. I think we'll still try to see one of the final day liftoffs Fri, Sat, or Sun, but would have been even more fun with the Airstreamers.
Hope to see you maybe this winter.
Thanks,
Jim

Many Thanks to the Four Corner Unit for having this Rally. We came 9,000 miles around the USA to get here, it was well worth it. We will never forget the explosion of the Balloons lifting off <6:30 am?> I did post some pictures on my Album for you to see, Enjoy.

Thanks from Cheryl and I to Ken and all who worked so hard to make this a great time for everyone. It sounds like this gets bigger every year and plans are for 150-200 next year. It will be up to us who have "been there, done that" to help spread the word to our fellow forum members, what a great time this is at a truly world class event, to help Ken and his crew hit whatever numbers they set as their goal. Thanks again...we'll see you again next year!

From the organizaing committee to all who attended - we sincerely thank you for attending this great event - its pretty hard to do a rally without those who attend, so without you all, the Balloon Fiesta Rally would not happen. Yes we want to continue to grow this rally because it gives us the ablilty to get the great spots that we have. We are the largest group for the Fiesta and they like us a lot because we are so organized.

You guys are THE BEST! You really make us feel like we know what we're doing in herding flamingos from the Camping World parking lot; pulling off a mega-potluck for 200 (with such an assortment of foods!) for which the Balloon Fiesta Parking Staff truly appreciated your generosity...and thanked us over and over. Thank YOU all for your kind words. I'm loving all the balloons photos, but would love to see more smiling 'Streamers! Please post more photos!

Sue, Della-the-Dog, and I stayed for three more nights after the other Airstreamers departed. We got to know some of the volunteers on the parking staff. Sue commented, "You must really enjoy all the pot-luck dinners." They replied, "You Airstreamers are the only ones who treat us so nice."

You're very welcome! It was so fun seeing you both, and we're still raving
about the great time we had at this year's Fiesta. Hope you had a productive visit to Cortez, CO and didn't get any of that inclement weather. Wish we would have had more time with you and Jan, we always
enjoy seeing you.

Time Flies!
Hey Ken, the 4CU and everyone who helped organize this rally:
Thanks...., words cannot really express the great time & fellowship we had but not enough time to do all we wanted to. Natalie & I stayed until Thurs. to watch the character balloons, unfortunately none lifted off, and not too many got inflated. Now we're on our way west for more sites. None as great as the Balloon Fiesta. Hope to visit ya'll again soon.
Regards, Terry.

Yep, weather was the deciding factor! The Dawn Patrol never left the ground, but the officials decided to let the "Balloonist's" inflate their balloons. After about an hour, the officials announced that due to high winds, all balloons were to be deflated. However, we still enjoyed the one, short, hour we had to see them.
Save travels. Terry.

Thanks!
Well we just returned from part 2 of our AS venture (the snowy expanse of Angel Fire). It was a bit chillier than we anticipated, but at least we can say we've seen snow as we head to Christmas time.
The DW and I would like to extend our gratitude to Ken J and the crew for making our first rally a very memorable experience.
A couple of token snaps:
First, enjoy the vastness of it all. Second, get a load of our alternative tow method. Does make me think that there is room for an AS ballon in a future special shapes rodeo.......
