...you have so many. They are widely available, but expensive. You must buy the entire latch. The chrome plating on my first 1976 was so corroded from salt spray, I wanted to replace it. WHen I saw the price, I learned to love corrosion.

I am getting pumped about the big event—my birthday on 10/4. And it is jdthor's too. Unfortunately for me, I'm 10 years older than him. The celebration started last week when a friend down the road and I (we also share 10/4, but he is even younger) had a birthday dinner.
Any other birthdays during this other event? I am still hoping for the Porsche 911, but will probably be disappointed once again. If everyone there chips in just a little more than a $1,000 each, I can finally have the 911. I want the Carrera S in red with the tow package.

No birthdays here, but we're excited to be on our way. We've made it to Garden of the Gods campground in Colo Sprgs and will explore around here a few days.

After the collection for my Porsche, we can buy Lew a cane. It is a big one, but Lew's 11 years younger than me. Isn't anybody older?

I hate to tell you this, Gene, but with (your) age, sports cars get smaller and smaller. Get a convertible sports car. They're a lot easier to climb into and out of.
I'm spending the evening getting all of my eletronic stuff charged up for the trip: Pentax, Kindle, and laptop.

Once again, the DW gets to spend her B-day (sept 28) driving / to our vacation destination. She told me to hold the gift purchases until after she's seen the vendor possibilities at the fiesta......
Getting super pumped about this trip!

Lew, Gene and Mrs. Hansom-Man....happy to have so many 'balanced' Libras at the Fiesta...mine is the 14th of October. Gene, if you give me $1,000 toward my dream car, I'll give you $1,000....deal?! (ps - jammies ARE mandatory if you step outside your coach in the wee hours of the morning!)
Three parks in the immediate area...Enchanted Trails, American RV, High Desert and all are booked. This is a very popular event. There are a few casinos in the area. Ken, what is the name of the one west of town. It's out a ways, but drivable to get one to CW between 9-12:00. Also, there is a funky RV resort on the south end of the Turquoise Trail, anyone know the name?
Sleeping temps were perfect here in Albq last night. ET is filling up, but where are all the Airstreams??

It's going to be tough finding places in Albuquerque at this point. Widen your search to outlying areas, including possibly north of Santa Fe, south of Los Lunas, east of Moriarity, and west to Grants.

Fbg',
There are a lot of casinos between Alb. and Santa Fe along I-25. Some may allow you to park overnight while you lose all your money. There are some west of Alb. along I-40 also.

8 miles west of Enchanted Trails on the south side of 40 is the 66 Casino...
On the west side of Bernalillo on the north side of 550 is the (I think) Santa Ana Star Casino...huge parking lot, and a shuttle to take you to the casino...mike

The Bernalillo KOA is actually pretty nice...we stayed there overnight once without a reservation and found it friendly and very pleasant. Right off I-25, too. Of course, they may very well be booked, but if you tell them you are just needing one night they may be able to accommodate you.

At Lake Powell, on the way to the Festival...
We found out that you can park at the Antelope Marina, launch there, and then paddle across to the island, camp there, and paddle back and forth (a very short paddle) to the Airstream in the parking lot to resupply--camp for free, park for free (senior pass, of course) for 14 days.
The photo below was taken in the Antelope Canyon, an arm of the lake very near the Antelope launch point.
Right now we're boondocking on a BLM dirt road above and about 1/4 mile from the vistor center--no people, no dogs, no nothing except great views.
See you all soon,
Zep
