I was just on the balloonfiesta site and made a copy of the events schedule for the days we'll be there. Simple enough to share, too.

Another event not listed is the wood carving competition which is also held at the fiesta. It is worth the walk to the opposite end of the field where this event takes place. They also have some great carvings for sale, but you will have to lug whatever you buy back to the camping area. It's a long carry, ask me how I know...

OK, azflycaster, I'll "bite"....., how do you know whatever you buy from the wood carvers, is a long haul back? Actually, a picture of what treasure you acquired, would help clarify!!
I have to work graveyard all this week, then we're headed west! Yeah! This is better than waiting for X-mas.
Looking forward to meeting everyone there.
Regards, Terry.

I thought the mass ascension was at 5 am. I am very glad to see it is at 7 am, a time I might be able to get out of bed.

Oh, goody! Thank you, Ken and Crew!
One thing I did not see on the balloonfiesta site was a list of vendors. Maybe that'll come later, but who knows. It's also fun just to be surprised!

Terry,
We bought a small (20 inch) carved bear who sits next to the door of the trailer. It's a long walk from the far end of the field to the camping area with a big block of wood in tow...

Oh you will be out of bed - you hear helicoptors circling the field starting around 5 - also the hiss of the pre-dawn balloons - lots of activity....... that is if the security guys on horses don't wake you up sooner...

The posse wondered through the area around 5:30 every morning. We were also buzzed repeatedly by a low flying aircraft around the same time last year. The early morning at the fiesta is the best time of the day, IMO.
Watching the dawn patrol take off in the darkness followed by the National Anthem and the flag carrying balloon at first light is a wonderful sight.

Honda is what I'm hoping for! And also hoping that our battery kind of kicks the bucket (and that Maria doesn't like it in that state).

Well, friends, I'm sorry to report that I cannot come this year. I had to have quick surgery to repair a detached retina - which went perfectly - but I will not have sight in that eye for some weeks. So I cannot make the trip from Virginia. Sorry, Lynn - can't share my genny with you - I was looking forward to camping with you.
This looks to be the best Fiesta ever. My hope is that it'll be even better next year.
I talked with the folks at Enchanted Trails to cancel my reservation. I've never camped with them - but they were as nice to me when I cancelled as they were when I made the reservation. They must be some fine folks.
See you on the road.
Pat

Oh, that's a bummer, Pat. A good friend of ours had a similar problem (that developed while they were camped in the AS here!), and he was immobile for quite a long time to heal. But it worked out well, and I hope it works out well for you, too!

Pat,
Linda and I hope you are on your way to a quick and complete recovery. We just got back from the Virginia Commonwealth rally, and are packing up for New Mexico. You will be missed, and I still owe you an adult beverage on our wager about the fresh water access area. Repairs went well under there, by the way. Heal Up!

We'll meet. I live to head west. Open spaces, blue skies, red rocks, dry air.

Thanks for the picture. I'm practicing hauling wood all over the 4+ acres we have. among other trees, we've had one HUGE oak tree that fell over labor day weekend . Haven't really begun to cut it up and haul..... who knows where! Just cleaning up the outer branches with the chainsaw and working inward. Looking forward to meeting you.
Terry.

'bout the same here. Friends of ours had two large pines fall across the entrance to their property, so it's chain saw time (and a whole bunch of firewood). It is amazing how just one tiny nick with the saw can create a pretty good-sized hole in a leg.
