Whoops! But USA RV didn't get enthusiastic reviews either, just better than KOA.

Most of those reveiws were before the current owners - the new owners have done a really nice job with the place...

Saw all of this about Grant"s just in time as I was about to make reservations today. Marge and I will join you and all east bound festival 'streamers at Gallop. Let us know when it firms up.

Would others like to join us again this year? We have been giving thought to spending the night in Gallup at the USA RV park this year. The KOA is nice, but the rate is now $48+. The USA RV rate is $32 and it is a much nicer facility and if enough people are interested, we should be able to get our rate discounted by a couple of $$s.
If we stay in Gallup, the morning ride will be 2 hours as opposed to the 1 hour drive from Grants.
If you are interested, please post your preference for the overnight stay and we can start working on the details. We need to arrive at CW which is a little West of Albuquerque around 9am.

We made reservations for the KOA in Gallup and were notified that it had closed. They refunded our money so we changed to the KOA in Grants because we have no experience with the area. I liked the idea of the shorter drive into the festival. When I looked at the Grants KOA on Google Earth I was less than impressed. It will be just a nights stay so I am OK with all of it. I am sure we will bump into more than just a few Airstreamers in Grants.
See all of you soon.

Nothing fancy about the Grants KOA, but the people are great. They also served a pretty good dinner. You will be in the middle of an ancient lava flow - try to save an afternoon to visit El Malpais and El Morro National Monuments while you are there.

We are coming down from Denver on Thursday and planning to stay at the KOA in Las Vegas NM - anyone have any comments about that campground - good, bad or ugly? Our experiences in most KOA's have been pleasant ...

Since my birthday is 10/4, I am asking for a Porsche 911, but I have asked for it for decades without any result.................
My 60th was last year and guess what my wife surprised me with?

jd, I have asked for a 911 Carrera S for years too and my birthday is also 10/4. I haven't gotten a Cayenne or a 911. We can celebrate our birthday at the Balloon Fiesta.

Update - we are now full all 100 spots are taken and we have a waiting list - I still have a few who have not paid there 2nd installment - I've sent them notices so they know who they are - if we do not receive by 9/1, they will lose their spot as well as their deposit.
As I understand it the whole park is pretty much full for this special year - we are by far the largest group they have - so it should be pretty cool.
There is a chance you could get in at this late date if any of those spots open up.
Other than that the planning committee is busy - - ah planning - we are expecting a great time and the weather is looking great! We will be in touch with everyone during the month of Sept.

Love the picture, looks like we have similar interest. I too have been asking for one for my B-Day which was in July. My wife finally listened up and went out and bought me one, a convertable no less. Then she politely ask me to stop asking for one. I'll join you in celebrating you B-Day's, and try not to "cry in my beer", LOL. Moral of this story, be careful for what you ask for.

Hello all,
We're gotten our confirmation from Ken that we are in the magic 100 group and are starting to plan our trip from Iowa in earnest now.
We are new to Airstreaming and this will be our first rally. I see from re-reading this entire thread that most people are staying at Enchanted Trails the night before. Does anyone know if there is space for 1 more with the group forming there? I was too late by phone tonight when I called Enchanted Trails, will try an email just in case.
Thanks,
Eileen

Balloon Fiesta is always a first rally for a number of folks - and they walk/drive away having a GREAT time!
Call Vicki at Enchanted Trails and let her know you are with the Airstream group - hopefully she can fit you in...........

Us too (our first Airstream and our first rally)! I hope we can manage to seek you out - we'll be the 25' with the blue Ellie Mae on the back window come find us, there's only a hundred to choose from
Coming in from Denver the night before (29th), we're going to stay at the KOA in Las Vegas NM, Santa Fe is about $10 more - if you don't have luck with Enchanted Trails.
Wendy - as in Jim and ...

Hello, I talked to Vicki this morning and luck was with us again--we have one of the last spots at Enchanted Trails for 29Sep.
Looking forward to meeting as many of you as we can and connecting some forum names to faces.
I'm guessing we might be the only ones in the group with Iowa license plates.
Here's a bit of Iowa balloon trivia: the National Hot Air Balloon Championships were held in Indianola, IA from 1971-1988.
I went to one and it was very impressive, though surely much smaller than what we'll see in Albuquerque at the Fiesta, and we certainly didn't get to stay right next to the launch field.
See you soon-
Eileen

Well because the Balloon Folks like us so much - they are giving us some of their reserve sites, so if you are interested in joining us, we have a few spaces available.
We really appreciate these folks - if you were to call the fiesta folks, they will tell you they are full - so those of you attending, be sure to thank any of the staff on the Fiesta grounds. So these are the only spots available.
We have confirmed Camping World as our meeting place on 9/30 - it is important you arrive there by noon at the latest - we will have over 100 trailers to get to the fiesta park all about the same time - don't try this at home we ARE professionals
We are talking to the parking folks and getting that all dialed in, so we will let you know how that shakes out.
Right after Labor Day Weekend, we will be sending regular updates and info to all attendees - this event is going to be incredible!!

Ken,
We won't be able to attend, and it's not because we don't want to...you host an exceptional rally, and our regret is that Mr. finance will not allow us this venture...I wish all of you well, and hope you will hoist one for us...TTQ is an honor not taken lightly, and I thank you for the gift...m
